I'd recommend the 1st cd. After that? Not so much.

I know so many people who absolutely adore him. He's never done much for me. I think he has a nice voice but I have yet to hear anything from him that moves me to the point of shelling out some bread for any of his CDs. I feel the same about Robin Thicke and Anthony Hamilton.

^^^ Kem I can some what understand. (He gets ALOT of radio spins by the way) Robin Thicke is pretty good in my opinion but sometimes you have to be selective with his music. Hamilton is and always has been underrated.

I bought his first cd, but after that all his songs sounded the same. He is basically an al jarreau ripoff and really not worth getting into. Anthony hamilton is very talented and underrated. Robin is okay, but really doesn't excite me.

First and second CD's are great, IMO. The last one, not so much.

Hell yes!!! The man is definitely talented and gives a great show live. I love his cd's though his last wasn't my cup of tea with the exception of a couple of songs, but his first two cd's are just lovely. nod

Funny that's exactly how I feel about Anthony Hamilton and them watered down spiritual sounding songs he keeps recording over and over again. evillol His first cd was great but after that I couldn't get into anything else. I might as well open up a Hymn book instead and sing to myself.

I have a friend who absolutely loves him, so she blackmailed me into going to his concert (I asked her to go to the W2A concert in NYC, and she said only if I go see Kem with her).

Since I don't like to go to a show and not know any music, I bought all of his albums. I played them on shuffle up until the concerts, and they were okay. shrug

I thought that he put on a good live show, though.

She talked me into going to another show, and although he's playing near us again, I think 3 times is too much. boxed

BTW: Both times, El DeBarge was supposed to open for him (a selling point! lol), but was "unavailable" each time. Instead we got Musiq, who fell off the stage, and Will Downing & Joe, who sang to canned tracks of their own music like karaoke. rolleyes

spit WTF? Were his sunglasses too dark? Or did his glass eye fall out and he was trying to catch it? evillol I know, I'm so wrong. lol

I like Kem. He's like old school R&B or at least he's trying to be that way. The thing I like about him is that he is a GROWN man singing R&B and his videos are pretty decent. No fanfare....just him doing his thang.

I didn't know Musiq fell! Must have been very embarrassing for him. I'm a casual fan of his. i actually got part of my spelling of my name from him..He is a gifted artist & very consistent. He also was christened by Prince.

Agree with this. Kem's music has become predictable and formulaic, but I dig his style. Just can't tolerate the same sound. His first two albums, Kemistry and Album II, were winners. But, I'm partial to Kemistry

He definitely had something going on with Kemistry. I remember when it was released back in the summer of 2003. So many record store couldn't keep it on their shelves. lol

Yeah Musiq just never developed his style over time. I depise his voice live. I just could not get into his music as much. But this album was cool...

Shucks, Musiq? Now you REALLY talking about a guy who makes the same album over and over and over again. Not only that, he sucks big time live too. I still want my $15 back, even if it is 3 years later.
