I've been listening to some Stevie over the last week, too.
Also, going way back to a previous post in this thread, I WANT to really like Grimes. The kind of music she makes is the kind of stuff I should like. But she hasn't convinced me yet. I actually think she's trying a bit too hard - hasn't really found herself yet.

I'm rocking that new Sam Sparro album. Good to the bone. Also, that new Fiona Apple album. This year could end up being the best year ever. Also, bumping Undisputed Truth - Method To The Madness.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Sam's 8 RCA albums were recently released in a box set. I bought it the other day at the record store. But I found out that most of the singles were non-album. So I guess they're going to have to release those separate, unless they're all on The Best Of Sam Cooke & Keep Movin On. I think many of the RCA era singles are owned by ABKCO and not RCA. RCA Records is now owned by Sony.
They said at the store that the albums are not sold separately, except Live At The Harlem Square Club, which is sold as a 180 gram vinyl LP. I already had Harlem Square, so I have 2 copies. The CDs are in LP style jackets, with the original artwork. Now someone needs to release the Keen albums. There is a low budget label 3 CD set of Keen era songs, for about 16 dollars. I don't know if it's all of it. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. I don't download, and never have. I always buy the product, usually the vinyl if there is one. If you buy new release records, they're already expensive, even for domestic US. A 45 single is around 5-10 dollars. Albums average $25 - $50. It's cheaper to buy an import CD. I don't think Sam's box set was an import (as it didn't cost that much), and I rarely order anything through the mail. There's lots of record stores where I live, and some of them will special order a release if they don't carry it. It's really good, sounds clear. The liner notes says the CDs were mastered in New York & Maine. Getting into the new solo album from Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes. It has that quintessential Supergrass sound & I'm liking it a lot! Gaz Coombes Simulator Supergrass Mansized Rooster, one of my faves from 1995/96 :-)

But,i'm sure you found them in a store near you. And all i was doing was announcing a much cheaper way for folks to get those Sam Cooke albums for 9.99 each, on Itunes or Amazon. This is for the folks who don't have them already. No harm, no foul,my friend. .

It could be the same set from Japan, as I doubt the label remastered it twice in that short amount of time. There's no indication that this one is actually from there though, no Japanese writing on it. It says it was manufactured in New York, and it was in the general CD section. The store I went to has a separate section for imports. The clerk says the store got it a few weeks ago. Swing Out Sister albums are sometimes released in Japan first and in the US months or even a year later. How much is the box set ? If it's cheaper,a friend of mine is going to be pissed. He shelled out,i believe,30 bones for three of those albums. He was mad, when he found out Itunes and Amazon, were selling them for 9.99 as downloads lol !!! Made me glad i didn't take the plunge, when they came out months ago, at Dusty groove.

It was $72 before tax, which is pretty low for 8 CDs, when one CD is at least $13. Some places like Best Buy sell certain CDs at a discount the first week or so. Isn't 3 CDs for $30 the same as $9.99 each? The clerk told me that other than the live album, the others weren't available as individual CDs. How did your friend buy them, from an individual? You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

How did your friend buy them, from an individual? no, he spent 30 dollars each. Sorry, i didn't type that out right lol. That's 90 bucks, so imagine if he had tried to buy all of them(not just the live albums, but the other ones as well). Like i said, they were released as japanese imports, like three months ago ? And he brought them from Dustygroove. So, he bought them online. Wow, he's gonna be annoyed. Cause he could've paid 72 bucks, for the whole set.
