Sounds like the male version of Anita Baker. Except for "The Songstress", every album after that sounds the same. It's like some of these singers find a formula/sound that works and they stick to it. They don't dare venture outside of that. I like Anita but her music is just too damn predictable!

See, I can take that from Anita, because her songs are well written the music well arranged. Plus, she takes years in between albums, so it's not so bad. Kem had back to back albums. I had not fully digested his first, when all of the sudden here comes the next album.

Yes! eek

When Will Downing and Joe opened for Kem, I was sitting there looking at those women losing their minds to these two singing karaoke to their own music like confused

Will Downing sung to his own tracks? Wow. My mom loves him, but I find him just as boring as Musiq.

Although Will has a very loyal fan base, he's not a huge seller. Many artists who are not gold & platinum sellers can't always afford to travel with a band. Traveling with a band costs a lot of dough!

By the way, I'll take a lot of the "boring" singers over a Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake or Justin Beber ANYDAY!!!!!!!lol

Musiq uses a lot of pitch correction. That made me lose interest immediately. I don't need to be hearing that shit in my r&b!

First and second CD's are great, IMO. The last one, not so much.

Agree with this. Kem's music has become predictable and formulaic, but I dig his style. Just can't tolerate the same sound. His first two albums, Kemistry and Album II, were winners. But, I'm partial to Kemistry

Anita's music was predictable, but I'm more partial to Anita though. Doesn't matter what mood I'm in, I can put on any Anita Baker album and my day will be set. lol

When it gets to Anita, I really don't have any problems. Even though her stuff got formulaic post-Rapture, I can appreciate it at any time or mood I'm in. I think the biggest gambit of her career was recording this album:

Just fuckin' brilliant... music This has become my favorite release and I can understand why it didn't go over people's heads back in 1990. One thing that I give Anita credit for is implementing live instrumentation in her music, even though R&B was still on the New Jack Swing train.
