Beastie Boys Adam Yauch Is Dead. http://www.rollingstone.c...8-20120504
Adam Yauch, one-third of the pioneering hip-hop group the Beastie Boys, has died at the age of 47, Rolling Stone has learned. Yauch, also known as MCA, had been in treatment for cancer since 2009. The rapper was diagnosed in 2009 after discovering a tumor in his salivary gland. Yauch sat out the Beastie Boys' induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April, and his treatments delayed the release of the group's most recent album, Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 2. The Beastie Boys had not performed live since the summer of 2009, and Yauch's illness prevented the group from appearing in music videos for Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 2. Yauch co-founded the Beastie Boys with Mike "Mike D" Diamond and Adam "Ad-Rock" Horowitz in 1979. The band started off as a hardcore punk group, but soon began experimenting with hip-hop. The band broke big with their first proper album, Licensed to Ill, in 1986, and further albums Paul's Boutique, Check Your Head and Ill Communication cemented the band as a true superstar act. In addition to his career with the Beastie Boys, Yauch was heavily involved in the movement to free Tibet and co-organized the Tibetan Freedom Concerts of the late Nineties. In 2002, he launched the film production company Oscilloscope Laboratories. Very sad. I've dug the Beasties since License to Ill and Paul's Boutique was an absolute classic. MCA was I guess the George Harrison of the group, the philosophic mystical one who always seem to have the most obscure yet must cutting rhymes in the group. He always seemed like the grown up of tht three, coming off less bratty than Mike D and King Ad Rock. Adam Yauch will be missed...RIP. All good things they say never last...

Yeah. Too young but I guess God calls for you when He thinks you're ready no matter what age. So I guess MCA did his work, now he's going home.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

This is really sad news
MCA always seemed to me like the most pure rapper of the three. And we got to hear him grow up through his music, exploring serious topics without sounding pretentious or out of place within the Beasties style.
Sadly we won't get to hear how he would evolve as an old man My Legacy

Wasn't originally in the group, Kate Schellenbach was. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. Too many people seem to be dying before thier 50th Birthday. Is my alarm about to be silenced?
What is going on?
R.I.P MCA.
Who knew that three white kids would eventually become one of hip-hop's most influential acts ever? The Beastie Boys were amongst the legion of trailblazers who left an indelible impression on a generation of rappers to follow. The Beasties Boys came out with a bang — dropping 1987's massive-selling Licensed to Ill. The group also reinvented its sound with the sample-heavy Paul's Boutique.
side note: (no disrepect)
Next weeks sales chart predictions: "License To Ill" & "Paul's Boutique" enters the Top 10!
Here we go again -
Seems like the only way artists can sell records these days.
Again, not trying to be disrepectful. - Just stating a fact.
i didn't know he was that sick!

Sad to hear.
I don't understand why people have a problem with artists' music being being bought/re-entering the chart after they pass...
