Willow Smith to Play the Next ‘Annie’

willow smith*Willow Smith is budding as a young star.

The progeny of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith is expanding her horizon and will star in a modern day version “Annie.”

Will Smith, who is slated to produce the Sony Pictures project, also confirmed to Good Morning America that his “Men In Black 3” co-star, Oscar winner Emma Thompson, wrote the script for the contemporary “Annie” film.

A black Annie?

Yes. The story will be set in modern-day New York and will feature music totally headed by Hip Hop mogul, Jay Z. This project is right up the rapper’s alley, being that he remastered the old “Annie” classic in “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem).”

Last year Willow told People magazine that she wanted Brad Pitt to be her adoptive father, “Daddy Warbucks.”

Filming will begin in 2013.

Another future successful project for the talented Smith family...

Well she cant sing or dance, so lets see if she can act lol.... Damn this girl, should enjoy being 11 years old and do other things. Her brother can't act so I doubt she can, but perhaps she'll prove me wrong...

Will and Jada need to stop shoe-horning their kids into movie roles. If they don't fit in naturally then they shouldn't be there. That movie where Jaden was the only black person in it with a white stepmother whose black father conveniently died before the movie started(had keanu Reeves as an alien). can't remeber the name but seriously it was so obvious that daddy pulled some strings on that one! Wasn't Annie a white kid with a mop of red hair? Willow is bald and considerably darker. Unless they're doing an all black remake than maybe it'll fly.

I bet she didn't even audition. I can't see her belting out Tomorrow either with that voice of hers. I just hope they put her in whiteface with a bright orange wig!

disbelief

They should just enjoy their childhood. Whats the rush? They could wait until at least maybe 17/18 to really take up all these things seriously. There to young to be pressured with so much stress and their not even teenagers. confused It would be different if they exactly had talent that could be cultivated but it seems Will and Jada are just shoving them into the spotlight.

They couldn't create an original kid hero that "just so happened" to look like Willow? Why re-create something? That was exactly the problem I had with Jaden in that "Karate Kid" remake. neutral

I don't care what anyone says, "The Karatre Kid" was a very good movie and Jaden Smith was very good in it!

"Whip My Hair" was a sensation when it came out.

That being said, whether they SHOULD be in a position to be good at these things is another story.

We've read all the Tatum O'Neal, Drew Barrymore and Michael Jackson stories to give us pause.

Why didn't it give Will and Jada any?

The film was released on June 11, 2010 by Columbia Pictures to 3,663 theaters across the United States. The Karate Kid topped the box office on its opening day, grossing $18.8 million, and in its opening weekend, grossing $56 million[3] in North America, beating The A-Team, which grossed an estimated $9.6 million on the same opening day, and $26 million in its opening weekend.[24] It closed on September 18, 2010 after 110 days of release, grossing $176.7 million in the US along with an additional $182 million overseas for a worldwide total of $358 million, making it a huge box office success.

As U can see it was big success. Will & Jada don't force their kids to do anything. They choose their own destiny's. They believe in letting their kids have their own minds. Don't understand the hate toward Will & Jada letting their kids be entertainers. No other kids get this kind of hate...

Oh here we go with the haters comment again.. plseee. Nobody is hating here. Everying has a RIGHT to their opinion at the end of the day that is all they are.

And you are beyond naive if you think THEIR PARENTS dont have nothing to do with them wanting to have careers. Most of the reason why they get these roles and record deals is because of who they parents are they are not because they have talent. I still cant believe they really cut Willows hair like that.. they exactly allowed someone to cut up their 9 year old daughters hair...confused

Jadens first movie role was with his father in the pursuit of happiness. Your honestly implying that at like 7/8 years old Jaden asked his father if he could play his son???? Im sure Will talked to the director about his son playing in that movie and pulled some strings. Once again nothing wrong with that but they need to chill out with forcing them into the spotlight. They should be advising them to enjoy being young and being in school but their pushing them to be stars.
