yeah still some men are more rude with their words and behaviour towards women than showing a bone would...there's nothing wrong with being sexual aroused either..it's human nature..it happens 2 everyone. Chemical reactions..pure and simple. And no, I don't think we should walk around naked..but just becuz I think it's antihygienic there would be no good seats 4 me on the movies

But this is what happens when an artist has no natural talent. How do you stretch such mediocre talent? You become the master of reinvention and shock, with a few good songs thrown in. Say what you like about Whitney and even MJ they had raw talent and it is almost like once their talent started to fade due their many issues their lives faded away too. This will never happen to MADONNA because her success has very little to do with talent, it is more to do with shock, control and hard work.

Say what you want about Madonna, she can write one hell of a hook

Hence why I said she's still trying.

Dear Madonna,
Please crawl in a hole with those disguistingly muscular arms, and die.

I agree with you on the prostitution issue, it's not something I'd want my mother or sister doing. But you actually proved an important point in the last sentence of that paragraph. "It's not because those societies believe it's an appreciable line of work coz if they did everyone would be involved in it." The prostitution issue aside, why is it everyone is so worried about what society thinks? Why is someone who defies the "norms" of society in a way that's not harmful to anyone viewed upon as "lesser"? You do understand if nobody throughout history had thought outside the box or outside of societies "norms" that many rights and privileges we all have would not be. And before you go and get irrational on me , no I'm not saying Madonna showing her boob is gonna change history.
Only Madonna knows why she did it and she tends to like her audience to interpret her work/performances as they want to. Perhaps being at the show and seeing the context in which she did it would explain her motives. Maybe there were none. I do know that her flashing her boob is not part of the normal choreography for this song on the show. I'm not sure if you're completely unfamiliar with her work or not but it was during her song Human Nature which is a song from her Bedtime Stories album she made in response to the critics and publics reaction to her Sex book. So knowing that, it doesn't seem that out of place. Seems she was just feeling extra frisky and "into" the performance. Why didn't she do it for a broader audience? Even she has her limits perhaps SHE only feels comfortable expressing herself in that way to her own fans because she knows her fans tend to "get her" more than say your typical Super Bowl audience. The backlash from her Sex book nearly detroyed her career so I'm sure she learned some things from that ordeal. However, she's a bit unusual in that she's a figure that has relied on her haters as much as her fans for her success.
Actually, you can be popular and do crazy shit all the time. That's part of the essence of rock and roll. Keith Moon of The Who setting firecrackers off on stage, Jim Morrison exposing his penis on stage, Jimi Hendrix starting fires on his stage, Janis Joplin being sloppy drunk off SoCo on stage. If that's too extreme how about Elvis and his hips, that seem so innocent now but at the time it was a jaw dropping, obscene and "evil" gesture by many. These are all acts who weren't fully understood in their "hey day" but are now seen as revolutionaries and legends. None of them played "by the rules". Madonna may be a "pop star" because she makes pop music but she has from day one approached her career more as a rock star would than her other "diva contemporaries" that she came up with like Janet, Mariah, Whitney or even more recently Katy, Rihanna etc. Someone like yourself who doesn't appreciate or is offended by a more outrageous performer certainly doesn't have to support them or their views by purchasing tickets to their shows. My problem with more conservative thinkers is that just not supporting an artist they don't care for isn't enough they must try to control EVERYBODY and ASSUME that everybody thinks the way they do. If they don't hold their values? Well by golly they are wrong, immoral and in some cases just pure evil. I don't mean this as harshly as it looks in words on a screen, but who are you to judge the entire fanbase of those artists? That is no different than judging a race of people. The "you can't have your cake and eat it" pretty much sums up why so many people just cannot stand Madonna. She HAS had her cake and eaten it for 30 years. She's become the most successful female artist ever, made A LOT of money, became just as powerful as her male contemporaries and used her sex appeal to her advantage and that is a big no-no.
What's the cut off age for leotards and showing tits? Prince was in his 30's when he showed his ass on stage, as was Madonna when she released her Sex book. They were/are obviously comfortable enough with themselves to do that, why should YOUR belief system come into play when they or anyone is making decisions in their lives. Madonna said it best:
"A lot of people are just really confused by me; they don’t know what to think of me, so they try to compartmentalize me or diminish me. Maybe they just feel unsafe. But any time you have an overtly emotional or irrational, negative reaction to something, you’re fearing something that it’s bringing up in you."

Madonna isn't defying any norms. Historically, there's always been a few ladies who continue to trot out their floppy tits even into their elderly years. Madonna is just falling in line with those ladies. See also: Courtney Love.
Who cares?? It's not shocking like some people say and it's not "zomg individualism" like the stans say either. It's some old lady with a dancer/stripper background ostensibly with a compulsion to show her titties. Yawn!

I said earlier in this thread that people were so bored that they found something to be shocked about. This could've been easily avoided. Besides, no one said anything about her flashing her ass in her concerts afterwards. People acting brand new over nipples lol

yeah theses days is all about looking stupid wearing beefs and eggs...

If it were so normal and common, then why does it get the reaction it does? Because it's Madonna? Younger girls flop their tits out all the time and they don't receive this kind of flak (funnily Madonna did tho when she was younger). IDK....maybe it's just something to do with her in particular. Courtney Love tends to get a pass for everything because she's fucking nuts and she's seen as a "rock star" whereas Madonna is seen as a "pop star" who should have limits.
You act as if Madonna's "dance" background was rooted in some grungy tittie bar in Brooklyn or something. The bitch has been studying dance intensely since she was a child, earned a dance scholarship to Uni Michigan and was with Alvin Ailey dance troupe so her credentials are a little more than your typical tittie bar dancer.
What makes me yawn is seeing (yet again) a man reducing a woman to "stripper" status because she showed a tit at the spur of the moment at a show. How predictable.

Actually, people always - ALWAYS go into a whirlwind tizzy when someone's body parts fall out of their clothes (either on purpose or in a malfunctioning wardrobe). It's not just Madonna because only a small subsect of people actually give 2 flips about this "incident"... It's being ginned up by the internet, but the real world hasn't given it a 2nd thought. Cuz no one cares. "Lol Madonna" is the extent of it.
And I don't need to reduce her to stripper status. She did that when she opened a worldwide tour WITH A STRIP TEASE.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
What tour did she open with a strip tease?? Are you referring to this incident? I'd hardly call it a strip tease. More like a "flashing". That's what I mean, she flashes a tit at a show and all of a sudden everything else she does in that show is diminished and she's a "stripper". It's just a little irrational and sexist. Are Usher, Mick Jagger, Iggy Pop, Prince etc etc etc etc reductive strippers when they tease/entice their audiences by removing their shirts?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Don't forget Prince masturbating with his guitar, sorry that was perfectly acceptable, because he's a man.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Prince did this at 53?
| |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
No but that's not the point
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Different situations, not exactly comparable.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I think they are. A man does sexual things on stage but doesn't get consider slutty or a stripper, a woman does sexual things on stage and is apparently a stripper for doing it
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Prince was still largely undergroun though, so the reaction will be different. Not to mention that Princ was lambasted by many and deemed a "f*g".

Can we just agree on these things and dead this thread:
| |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yes I understand that. But I'm talking about this site. Spinlight is fine with bashing Madonna and calling her a stripper all because of this incident but then why isn't Prince considered to be something other than a musician after all he did?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Didn't like Joan Jett flash her tits a few times?

Spinlight is Spinlight.

Are you braindead? I love everything the dumb bitch did up until Ray of Light. I was bumpin Madonna tapes before half this msg board grew out of their leg braces, the knock-kneed bastards. YOU are just one of those dumb asses who talk out their neck without knowing what the fuck they're yammering about.
Now THAT is a good point. SON.

I wish I would have been there, I would have run up on stage and pulled all their socks off so we could have a giant orgy.
