Solitude (Billy Holiday) / Somewhere Here On Earth (You might have to clink the link as it is no embedding into this post... )
I know you guys have heard of the classic and wonderful piece by Billy 'In My Solitude'
"In my solitude you haunt me I sit in my chair In my solitude

I love this song so much, while listening to it, I realized the trumpet sounds remarkably similar to 'Somewhere Here On Earth' played by Christian Scott. In fact the whole song sounds very inspired by 'Solitude'. I know Prince loves Jazz, and I am pretty sure he appreciates Billy...I am not sure if this was done in the vein of the song, but it sounds very crisp!
What do you think?
It's a great song nonetheless, and it's timeless! Remarkable work! Solitude always gives me the blues, when I am feeling blue..It makes me feel worst in a good way. lol.
Can you hear the similaries in these two; and if not have you always appreciated these tracks? I am not comparing them in saying one is better or lesser. It's good music, so IMO they each transcend time and the both of them are just as great!
