Disses & Beefs

What is the point in all this bullshit? lol

Everytime i turn around someone is beefing or ''dissing'' on so & so. That shit is co childish to me, it's like we are watching a high school drama confused

Is that all people can do now? if beef and talk shit about people & write songs about them & so on. When did all this start with ''beefs''?

I feel it make's an artist's look childish when they drag them on & on & on for no reason...... it's just like will you 2 fuckers scrap or what?

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Or a way to keep marginally talented individuals (whose weak musical output is not enough) in the gossip-hungry public's consciousness?

After The Beatles broke up, they talked about each other in the press and in songs like How Do You Sleep.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Actually, I wouldn't mind it if its done cleverly and most of all, musically. Kill all the twitter/FB/interview noise, put it in record and move on.

George Clinton and James Brown themselves weren't strangers to throwing shade to other artists through their music. But it was within a context, AND they didn't drag the matter. After all, its still a form of expression.

I don't mind disses and beefs if it's done creatively. But unless it's on some bitch shit like online thuggery then nah that ain't dissing/beefing, that's on some emo bullshit.

I think most are dumb, whether it is classic rock, jazz or hip-hop. I find most of it to be silly, do your own thing & if you don't like someone else's shit. Don't listen to it & don't give them more publicity talking about it lol

Pretty much. People nowadays dont really beef... As far as hip hop the last real beef was between Nas and Jay Z in which Jay Z's bitch ass started and lost terribly..

Beefs are dumb and stupid... All these people are millionares and beef over immature dumb shit.

I heard that Cameo would pull the plug on other acts they were touring with. I don't know if that would be considered a beef though.

James Brown took Solomon Burke's crown and cape and performed his show with it, because Solomon was known as the "King".

I read a different story from Solomon, he said James asked Solomon to give up the crown and the cape and wanted to be known as the "King" or the predecessor of Solomon's and Solomon refused. He got paid just for being there and didn't even perform (Solomon did). I know that must've pissed James off. lol We already know he didn't get on well with Wilson Pickett and Joe Tex and they all said that they were "the real soul brothers". I think Wilson even called James a "fraud" once.

I'm a sucker for a good diss track, but honestly beefs are so childish. The emphasis put on ego in the hip hop industry is really pathetic.

Most beefs are absolute bullshit (all time worst rick ross and 50 cent, that was ridiculous). I don't mind them when they are tongue in cheek or amicable (Neil Young/Lynyrd Skynyrd, Keith Richards/Mick Jagger) or when there is a legitimate reason (Paul McCartney/John LennonYokoOno)

Nowadays it mainly comes across and immature and produces the musical equivelant of offensive hand gestures and pulling faces from little kids as opposed to bone cutting lyrics and playing angry.

It was our night to close the show, but shortly before show time, we got word that Bobby (Womack)was sick and wouldn’t be able to perform. I was more than a little suspicious, but we went on, did the show, and convinced Bobby would try to pull something, I announced from the stage that the show was over, good night. The houselights went up, and we headed offstage. I hadn’t even gotten backstage, and what do I see but Bobby and his band haulin ass for the stage, ready to go. I remember thinking, Why that____! I ran backstage, where I found Bobby in the wings, ready to go on. Funny, he looked perfectly healthy to me. “You are not going on!” I shouted in his face. “This damn show is over! I just closed it!” “No Ted, you just opened it.” he replied sarcastically. “I’m going on.” He thought he was so damn slick. I couldn’t stand it. When the emcee announced that Womack had ‘recovered’ and was going to play, the crowd applauded. I stood backstage, glaring. He is not getting away with this! “Henry!” I shouted. “Unplug that asshole!” We unplugged their amplifiers, the stage went dark and silent, and that was it. You should have seen the look on his face when he realized he wasn’t headlining that night. The incident didn’t end there, however. A member of Womack’s road crew threatened to shoot me, forcing me to hide out in my dressing room. I was scared to death, but you know it was well worth it.

Oh my falloff

Didn't know that Teddy was catty as well. I thought the dynamic between him and Marvin was one-sided(from Marvin's end).

Wow, they were all a scrambled egg mess.

I was one who never believed it. I don't think Teddy styling his head shape like Marvin's, growing a beard like Marvin and even dressing like Marvin was no coincidence. Marvin secretly trained that dude and then he (Teddy) turns around and tries to fuck his woman (but I think Teddy dumped Janis quick because he thought she was a nutcase lol). Nah, Teddy was just much of a divo as Marvin was. wink
