Cissy Houston Penning Book on Whitney
June 5, 2012 Abridged article
Ending months of speculation, Cissy Houston has officially announced she is writing a book about her late superstar daughter, Whitney Houston. The Houston family matriarch signed a deal with HarperCollins, which promised the "unabridged and unbelievable story" of the talented and troubled singer, whose once-blazing career stumbled while she grappled with drug addiction and a tumultuous marriage.
"When I lost my daughter Nippy (Whitney Houston's nickname), the world lost one of the most beautiful voices and an extraordinarily beautiful and charitable woman," Cissy Houston said Monday in a statement.
"In sharing our story in this book, I hope to give her fans something to treasure, the way we all treasured Whitney. We are still receiving thousands of letters each day from her fans, and I hope reading this book will provide a deeper understanding into my daughter's true story," continued Houston.
The book will be published in February 2013; financial terms weren't disclosed.

My opinion of Cissy Houston is at an all time low. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Why?
Nevermind, I can see why... I don't know... when she put out that gospel EP I didn't say anything or when she agreed to be in Pat's reality show. Hmm... [Edited 6/5/12 10:06am]

I can't say that my opinion of her is at an all time low, but I really didn't expect this from her, nor her agreeing with the reality show either. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Mine's not at an all time low either but I'm saddened by this. I don't get why she and that other passing famous celebrity's mama get involve with shady people? [Edited 6/5/12 10:08am]

I don't see her writing a book on her daughter as a cash grab. My feeling is she wants her book to be the definitive word on Whitney's professional and personal life.

But how can it be accurate when she wasn't there in Whitney's presence 24/7? The book is only going to be based on Cissy's point of view which not necessarily be accurate. Just my opinion. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I don't see the book as a problem. It's the details. You know folks ain't gonna wanna publish a book where only the good details are discussed. I guess it's good she ain't releasing it until next year I guess.

These Houstons are starting to sound reminiscent of another fucked up celebrity family... I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

That's what I about said too.

Exactly. That's why it would be pointless. Ain't no one in this world perfect, and unfortunately we all got to see SOME of Whitney's shortcomings because of her being in the public eye. So Cissy only telling the "good side" will not sell at all. Unfortunately. My point is, why open up those bag of worms in the first place when you don't have to? Exactly. That's why that other family stays struggling...

You know she's going to leave a whole lot of good stuff out to try and paint Nippy in as much as a postive light as possible. We aren't going to get the whole truth. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

There ain't too much damage she can do to Bobby's already-sullied reputation. But whether he has, in fact, been unfairly maligned is open to discussion.

Agree. I would think in this situation, you need to walk in the other persons shoes.
I saw the interview Mother Houston gave to the local news network in New Jersey. Cissy Houston expressed anger and hurt that her daughters 48 years on this earth were reduced to drowning in a tub after a weekend binder. Whitney had a drug problem. Addiction robs people of their self-respect; they do and pull shit they wouldn't otherwise do but it doesn't make them necessarily bad people. Maybe Mother Houston wants people to know who her daughters was, the good and the self destructive. Once again, that was her baby that died. Whitney Houston is gone, her body has been reclaimed by the earth; her family isn't obligated to posturer for public approval that their grief is real. "Let the dead bury the dead." -------------------------------------

They'll certainly be posturing for the public soon enough in front of the cameras for the reality show... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

A reality show though after the death of a family member. What could the reality show possibly be on????
Things like that to me seems like someone is looking for money. Your right, she isnt obligated to prove anything to me but her actions speak otherwise as far as her intentions.

But would she know any better though? If her son and daughter in law, are telling her the reality show is a way to help Whintey's image and legacy, how would Cissy know it wouldn't?
Becuase of her age and becuase she did in fact try to help Whitney, i'm trying to cut her some slack.

I don't see how a reality show would help any. There's only rare notions that reality shows bring "positivity" and usually folks who are into reality shows don't want that, they want drama. We'll see what this show will bring.
