Hard Candy totally sucked so should I get MDNA?

After the brilliant Confessions, HC was a major disappointment. Should I get MDNA and be equally saddened or uplifted? confused

MDNA is a million times better than Hard Candy. It has its problems, but it feels like Madonna actually showed up for this album.

I don't care for MDNA. Just my opinion.

MDNA makes my top 5 Madonna albums along with Ray Of Light, Like A Prayer, Music, Erotica, and Confessions. Hard Candy is my least favorite album of hers. As far as my opinion goes, yes.

Better than American Life, Hard Candy, I'm Breathless and Evita

WORSE than the rest

3 stars out of 5

intriguing lyrics, likeable modern-dance sound, but still a far cry from Confessions or Music...

Give Me all Your Love is probably one of the worst tracks...so don't worry about it

buy it wink for me, MDNA is her first "veteran artist" album: a completely decent, worthy album, but not great or groundbreaking, welcome to the club Madonna lol, join the Stones, U2, the Boss or Elton if you like, lol

and I agree with errant, MDNA is an album DOMINATED by Madonna, not by outside producers or some "trying too hard" singles (a la 4 Minutes)

I dunno why, but for some reason I always look for your reviews of club music. I may not buy MDNA just yet -- or possibly ever -- but I feel safer even just considering it now. smile

I say this all the time:

There is no way for Madonna,or any other artist,to break new ground in this day and age.She already did her share of bold, edgy music in the past. From this point on,you're gonna get albums like MDNA....enjoyable,likable pop/dance songs that don't break new ground. And that's fine! lol Fans who are waiting for another Like a Prayer or Ray Of Light are gonna be very disappointed.

..

MDNA gets boring very quicky. I like the production, but not enough strong songs to keep me interested. At least Hard Candy had "Give it 2 me", which blows everything from MDNA away.

Yes, that's how I would described this album. It is decent and much better than the terrible Hard candy, BUT it has no personality, so very quickly get bored. It's too "like all artists."
Good songs BUT there are no difference from what you can heard on the radio constantly.
The album was released on March 26, the last time I listened to it April 2 .. enough said.

I liked Hard Candy better.

The strong grooves and 80's flair in production are more my taste so to speak. Shes Not Me, Candy Shop, Dance 2Nite, Incredible, Spanish Lesson and The Beat Goes On just make me want to dance and groove immediatley. There's alot of funk, dance, and pop in this album.

MDNA has its moments though like Girls Gone Wild, Turn Up The Radio, Im Addicted and Gang Bang..but not enough of those moments in my opinion. I give her credit for going back to the dance route like Confessions ...but I don't know...I feel like it was "safe" for the teens to pick it up too...I guess I just wanted a couple more grooves this time. Not alot of tunes stuck with me or made me remember them back to back.

Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I like Hard Candy. It works very well as a dance album. The beats are hard, the grooves sizzle, and it doesn't really slow down until the last few tracks.MDNA has better lyrics and it's emotionally deeper, but Hard Candy was alot of fun.

Hell, I barely even listen to music these days.

Different strokes, I guess, because to me GGW and TUTR are two of the more boring tracks on MDNA. Gang Bang and I'm Addicted are among the strongest though.

Candy Shop doesn't even warrant release - or even being conceived of in the first place - let alone opening an album.

hmmm Maybe it's just a Madonna thing, then.... because now that I think about it, hers is the only club music I really listen to as well lol

I'm like that too. Generally, I hate club music but I love Madonna. I guess just because she's special! But her music isn't really pure club music anyway, it's more pop.

one thing it's true: NONE of the songs of MDNA deserve to be included on Celebration

perhaps Girl Gone Wild, but meh

that's why I said it's her first "veteran artist" album: there are NO new classics here...but none of the songs suck either...

I agree with this.Madonna has reached "veteran artist" status. She won't have too many more Top 10 hits. She obviously realizes this, which is why she didn't really promote this album. From now on,the main focus is gonna be on the tours. It's like this with other veteran artists, too (Elton John,The Rolling Stones, etc).

I said after my first few listens that it wouldn't have any longevity and that people will realize in due time that it sucks. I was right.

Preview the songs and buy the ones you like.

Gang Bang is awesome too. My favorite from the album, definitely in my top 20 songs by her. Falling Free is great too

Download Spotify and listen to it for free, legally. Hard Candy was better. MDNA and Bedtime Filler are tied for worst Madonna studio album IMO.

And 'Incredible' sucks! Why do people always pick the worst song on an album and overglorify it?

Miles Away is definetly the best song on HC but I'm actually not that big a fan of it. Maybe in my top 40 songs by her. Maybe.
