What About TAVARES?

Would any of you consider Tavares (70s group) a VOCAL GROUP like the Temptations, The Drifters, etc.? I ask because I see groups like the Tempations, The Spinners, The Andrew Sisters, and The Jackson 5 listed in the VOCAL GROUP HALL OF FAME, while Tavares isn't. I also looked up the term Vocal Group on Wikipedia and they gave a list of various bands considered vocal groups and once again Tavares isn't listed. Just wondering.

Were they a vocal group....yes

Were they as famous as The Temptations...no

Did they deserve a greater career and more recognition, yes but everybody who eventually gets a record contract thinks they deserve better and the truth is that there isn't enough room or time in life for everyone to have a No. 1 song and the world at your feet. I love their eighties classics You Are The Words & Penny For Your Thoughts , two beautiful songs that need to be pulled from the crates and played often.

They were a vocal group, but maybe not as popular (to some) as those you have listed. My favorite song from them is "Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel"

The groups you've presented are quite varied and are from different times in music history, the only connecton is that they all have had a presence in the industry.

Eh who cares about labels? They recorded great songs that I grew up cherishing. Lately, I've been hoping they would tour so I could see them live.

Fave songs: Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel

Tavares is one of my favorite 70s vocal groups.I got all their albums. They had an incredible run that lasted from 1973-1983.
