I think that's the gist of it and she has every right to be pissed.

Why she mad? She ant know doing scenes writhing naked in baked beans, milk, silver, would turn out to be a sexualized video?

I think the emphasis on personal responsibility is bottom line. I also think her issue isnt shame or morals, but deceitful wack assed breach. [Edited 6/7/12 12:40pm]

Dude. You're not stupid. How many different ways can it be said? She was told she would see the video BEFORE it was released. That didn't happen.

Im sayin. How else did she think the vid was going to be portrayed? Behind a screen? "Climb in my fur."

And I disagree with that. There is a lot of art that requires the trust of the parties involved to make it happen. Often times it doesn't work and nobody sees it or hears it. I know this for a fact because I've worked with musicians, dancers, painters and photographers for many years. That trust was betrayed, which I think she exlpains very clearly and honestly. She says she had reservations, but trusted Wayne to go ahead with his artistic vision and show her the results. He chose to go ahead with his artistic vision and show it to the world BEFORE he showed it to her. I find it to be a perfectly valid complaint.

I do too, however this all feels like a response to "image". If her image is SO UNTOUCHABLE then she should protect it at all costs including not handing the untouchable over so that she no longer has control over it. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Now, if she had some of her ATL goons drop in and work those punks over, you'd think she was wrong, wouldn't you?
THEY fucked up. She wasn't being irresponsible, she was participating in what she thought was art. They made it look like a trailer for a porn flick and then bootlegged it out to the public without even showing her first. You really don't see the problem? I guess if it were someone else, perhaps you'd be more sympathetic? It doesn't matter who it was. That was some foul shit to do. Practically every R rated movie has footage that would turn it NC-17 or turn it into porn. So, is it cool to upload the footage on the web and then diss the actresses and actors instead of the director and the editors? That's the problem with most of America these days; people don't know where to point the finger when it comes to blame. People have been programmed not to blame the people at fault. That's how the banks stole billions from the public and no one went to jail and that's how the director of this video is getting away with doing the foul shit he did - because people are blind as hell.

She's mad because a certain portion of her audinece is outraged over it so NOW she's feigning disgust/disbelief. "Climb in my fur."

I just find it interesting she waited a few days before she responded... And I think her issue is really control. She let someone else release this and now she has to try to explain why she mad.

Exactly. She's probably pissed she didn't get to release it herself! 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Or, perhaps she's actully pissed for the exact reasons she said. Why is that such a stretch to believe? I bet she saw and studied every frame of Window Seat. If she is going to do another risque video, why is it so hard to believe that she'd want to see it and approve it first before it hit the public?

If she is going to do another nude video then she shouldn't be trusting it to others if she wanted to control the product. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

She should've, if she wanted, get that shit locked before anybody in either management company release the video...without THEIR permission.
Surely something SIMPLE like that, right?

I agree. Madonna would have and kept it movin'.
On another site though, someone mentioned an issue of "slave pussy"
so maybe that outrage with a portio of the black community being uncomfy with a black woman being an object such as presented along with a white Flaming Lip member is really the issue. "Climb in my fur."

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't have much difficulty believing that it went down broadly as she says - i.e. she participated in a piece of work based around an artistic vision that was not her own but wasn't given proper opportunity to view and assess the result - and she's genuinely pissed about that. The cogency of her letter to the guy, and the fact that he's completely held his hands up without offering any defence or qualification, leads me to think that's the most probable explanation.
I also can't understand why anyone would not affirm her and her sisters' right to have the final say in the way sensitive film of their naked bodies is edited and put into the public domain. Surely, that's an absolute?? Even if you give consent in the first instance, you still have the right to withdraw it, especially if your consent was conditional, and when it's such sensitive material. It's a shame that the video seems to be completley overshadowing the music contained within, as it really is a fantastic track, I can't wait for the cd to drop.

The albums ok, not enough of flaming lips for me as almost every song is sung by the guest contributing to the track.

Can Erykah sue him though? Kill all this twitter/fb noise, is there a written agreement that her approval is mandatory for this video to be released? If so, drag his shady ass, quitely.

Harlepolis said: Oh wow. She has a satirical tone, but looks like she was actually giving a step-by-step guide to how one makes it in the music industry, considering the fact that she in fact stripped NAKED and covered herself in glitter. I enjoy her music, but I don't like her double speak. However, how can I hold her to a high moral standard in the first place? This is the same woman who uses "art" in the same context as most other "arteests" topping the charts; an excuse to justify unnecessary behaviors and shocking imagery that makes no sense.
