Stevie Wonder's Tribute LP

NEW STEVIE WONDER CONCEPT ALBUM IS FILLED TO THE BRIM : Set to feature Joe, Mr. Cheeks, Glenn Lewis, Musiq Black Coffey,Mary J. Blige and many others.

(Feb. 11, 2003) *Universal/Motown Records has set a March 18 release date for "Conception: An Interpretation of Stevie Wonder's Songs."
The tribute set will feature 14 selections from Wonder's catalog re-envisioned by the likes of Joe, Glenn Lewis (of course), Eric Clapton, Angie Stone, Mary J. Blige, and more.

Wonder's 1982 track "That Girl," as interpreted by Joe featuring Mr. Cheeks, is the first single released from the set. And it's hot. Other cuts include Clapton's take on "Higher Ground," Angie Stone's rendition of "You Will Know," Glenn Lewis' turn on "Superstition," Mary J. Blige's version of "Overjoyed," Musiq's "Visions," Brian McKnight's "Send One Your Love," and Black Coffey's stab at "Rocket Love."

John Mellencamp, Dave Hollister, India.Arie, and Marc Anthony are also expected to contribute tracks. Wonder's duet with Arie, "Christmas Song," recorded for a television ad for retailer Target, was recently nominated for a best pop collaboration with vocals Grammy.

Marc Anthony is gonna contribute a track? That's gonna be GREAT! I hope he does "Golden Lady" or "All In Love Is Fair".

I absolutely hate tribute albums.

Why would I pay good money 2 hear other artists massacre a song I only want 2 hear from the original artist.

I refuse 2 support this. disbelief

I would love to see Carlos Santana contribute to this album. In the 90s,he used to frequently play "Another Star" during his concerts. Why not record a studio version for this album?

I just visited a Marc Anthony message board and someone already has a copy of this CD (the rest of us will have to wait until March 18).Here is what she had to say about Marc's contribution to the album...

"Hey everyone,I don't know if you remember that I had posted that my husband works at this record company.Well, anyway he received the Stevie Wonder CD,and it is off the hook.

Marc Anthony sings a beautiful song called "All In Love Is Fair". When I heard it I started tearing,he sings it so beautiful, I couldn't wait to come and post it, I'm so excited,I can't wait until you guys hear it,it is so beautiful,I know I said that already but...

He also wrote this to Stevie Wonder:
"Dear Stevie,
Finding myself in a position to sing one of your songs in your honor,is a culmination of years and years of dreaming and believing.I still can't believe I got the call.
You're a musical treasure.
Love,Marc"

Now how beautiful is that? The CD also features Eric Clapton,Glenn Lewis,Joe,Stephen Marley,Caron Wheeler,Mary J.Blige,Angie Stone,Black Coffee,Musiq,Dave Hollister,John Mellancamp and India.Arie."
