Robin Thicke Drops Free Song, Confirms New Album
May 30, 2012
A handwritten note is cool, but Robin Thicke did fans one better. He shared a brand-new song "Top of the World" over the weekend, tweeting, "A little thank u to my fans please enjoy this free track for summer."
Less than a year after releasing his fifth studio album Love After War, Robin confirms to ABC News Radio that he's working on another disc. "[I'm] always working on a new album," Robin says. "I've been writing my own songs since I was 11 [or] 12 years old, so any time I get some time off, the first thing I wanna do is write songs."
Asked what the new project will sound like, Robin says, "I never conceptualize my albums. I just write what I'm feeling and what I'm going through. And then at the end of writing 50, or 60 songs, I go, 'Hey, there's a common thread here, that's what we're going for.'"

In other words, "I'm going to try my best to capitalize off of being a judge on a reality show competition and strike while the iron is hot."
Or better yet: "I'm going to try and win over some white folks since I'm on T.V. now."

"On Top of the World" may not attract new fans, but, man, it has an insatiably groove. I hope it's signaling where he's going next musically.

I actually like it. No masterpiece, but nice. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really donĀ“t like the idea that he could have it all."

But on a serious note, I do like Thicke musically and think his talented. Im looking forward to this...

It's a shame that his last album Love After War was neglected by the masses.I think it's one of his strongest albums.Looking forward to the next one.

Or better yet: "I'm going to try and win over some white folks since I'm on T.V. now." Pretty much. But the new song sounds nice. Takes me back to the Cherry Blue Skies/A Beautiful World era. Maybe this record will put me back in his good graces again. Check me out and add me on:

Dang, he churning them albums out isn't he? I thought he just released a new album not too long ago?
I like this song though. [Edited 5/30/12 15:29pm] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I guess I don't get his purpose. He's not that talented and there are better blue eyed soul singers "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Love Thicke! 4 great albums in 5 tries (I have yet to listen to Sex Therapy, even though I own it) is about as consistent as it gets in the music business these days.

Anyone else think of Ushers "U turn" when he says "come on, come on" LOL.
Nice production ruined by his "conversational rapping" or whatever it is on the verses
