Pop star Justin Bieber was under investigation Sunday for possible misdemeanor battery against a photographer, authorities said.

Los Angeles County sheriff's detectives were investigating claims by a photographer that Bieber struck him after he snapped photographs of the singer and his girlfriend, actress Selena Gomez, at the Commons at Calabasas Shopping Center.

The photographer complained of pain and was taken by the Los Angeles County Fire Department to a hospital, where he was treated and released.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact detectives at (818) 878-1808. Anonymous tipsters may contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).

A spokesperson for Bieber did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.

Justin, aka "The Biebs", Bieber went bonkers on a photographer while out with his lovely lady Selena Gomez in Los Angeles, CA on May 27th, 2012. The usually cool, calm and collected singing sensation simply lost it for a moment and lost his shoe and hat in the melee. Lady Selena was there to recover his lost items and help a seemingly uninjured Justin away but then she got to deal the craziness which ensued. Fire trucks, cops and an ambulance were called to the scene and paramedics tended to the photog who was still on the ground.

I'm not a fan of Bieber but I really don't think it should be illegal to "assault" those bottom feeding cocksuckers. Anyone that makes their living that way forfeits any rights and priviliges that normal people have. People can only be pushed so far before they snap.

Any dude that fucks up the Elvis/Little Richard pompadour (look closely at his hair) and wears some fucking purple shoes (lol) don't have style at all and I agree with the last poster, guess he better reap what he sow. I...don't agree with that. I don't think that just because someone makes music or movies, that means they basically have to forfeit their entire life to the public and agree to let everyone in on every detail of their lives. Everybody needs privacy and peace.

It's odd to me that so many people actually share your view and think that we collectively 'own' those in the public eye, because of what they do, and that they aren't entitled to the same personal boundaries as everybody else.

but if a celebrity actually HOPES that she/he can avoid random pappas at restaurants, boulevards, beaches, etc, then that's just SILLY That's the "price" they pay: they are "public domain" as soon as they hit the street
