I watch Palladia all the time, which is owned by MTV. I don't watch MTV at all. I agree with Eddie Vedder that videos ruin songs. |

I haven't watched it in years. I've heard about Teen Mom & Jersey Shore but never seen a single episode. Not interested. I only turn to it now to watch the VMA's. THAT'S IT.
I think I stopped when they took TRL off and even before then I was getting bored. |

I haven't watch MTV for music videos since 1993. But I was still watching BET (mostly because of Video Vibration & Video Soul), The Box, Friday Night Videos, & Nighttracks around that time.
These days, I only watch YouTube, Dailymotion, & Yahoo! Music for music videos.
And the thing is, MTV and all these other stations shot themselves in the head, by buying into cheap money, better known as Reality tv, now dont get me wrong i liked "BANDS REUNITED" but that show wasnt "reality" because it was "reality" never scripted, all reality shows are fake and scripted, sad that it took america 20 years to catch on to that one. But all these shows stopped investing in the older music, so there was no catalogs being buit. When MTV started and for a good time, they didnt just play a new video, they had shows playing older videos, they all did, but that went away, once soundscam and viaCON (my version) took over and sold everything off, and made their money of snooki and i love new york and stupid shit like that, and left music to die
You just said what went wrong in one word: ViaCON! |

No really.... my chair broke from laughing so hard.
And "all" reality tv is not "fake and scripted", either. There is a difference between writing dialogue and reactions and writing a "script" for the situations you're going to put contestants/participants. It's not really very hard to tell the difference, either. Watch some of that crap on "Tru" TV. THAT, is scripted. People on, just using Mtv as an example here, Real World, are not reading a "script". Those are their words. Editing is what makes "good" reality tv anyway. Watch the live Big Brother feeds if that doesn't make sense. Boring as watching ice melt in a cold freezer. |

And they're getting worse with their "reality" shows on truTV. I can't believe 56 million folks allegedly watch that Pawn Shop bullshit? You kidding me?! |

Dude! I'm not sure 56 million people even have access to that channel! They must be adding up all the single viewings of every episode, ever!
I don't watch any of their crap shows, but I do watch Cops on that channel so I see their commercials all the time. I tried to watch that repo show because I kept seeing it advertised.... uhhh, no! That shit is so clearly staged... badly! And then the commercial with the person bringing a horse INTO the pawn shop! My ass! That shit ain't gonna happen. First of all, there's security. Second, what fucking horse just walks into a pawn shop!? A regular old horse is NOT that calm and cool about shit like that. Clearly, the HORSE was an actor! |
