We all love Stephanie..Always have and always will...But for historical reasons a Televised Bio about her life is in order....Look at Vesta. Vesta didnt know she'd be leaving this world weeks after the taping...I found out things about her that I never knew. I even appreciate her more.
If this was Lifetime Network Intimate Portrait or the Biography channels Biography she'd probably do it...But let's be real the Biography channel probably won't be calling Stephanie anytime soon. That is their Loss not hers...
I agree with many of you when you say Stephanie isnt Unsung....I simply feel a special about her Life should be documented...
Do you guys remember BET's Journeys in Black? BET only covered mainstream Stars but I give them props for shining a light on Celebs...We need a BET Biography or something documenting the Lives of the Black Entertainers...
@ this point TV1's Unsung need to do a name-change...They will continue to get Artists to do the 1hr show because no other Network is gonna tell their story...Maybe if they change the name of the series to "The Rythm & The Blues of an American Artist" they'll get Artists like Stephanie to sign on...

I can respect Stephanie's choice and I don't consider her "unsung." Stephanie is/was an R & B artist who did get that recognition. I didn't realize that "Unsung" was about the recognized R & B artist who didn't have crossover appeal. I thought "Unsung" was about the overlooked/forgotten R & B artist with massive potential. I think I'm okay without knowing the details of Stephanie's life that really don't have anything to do with her musical career.
Having said that, I do like the show because I think of it as a "Whatever happened to. . ." type of show. Sometimes artists just disappear and this show does a good job with telling you what became of such and such. . .

Unsung, the title of the show, gave me the first impression of like.. why would anyone want to go on this show and admit that their career was rocky.
But after a few episodes, it isn't even like that! Now I see it's more about shining a little more light on some people who deserve it and don't always get the attention.
I think Stephanie Mills fits on a show like that.
