Lisa Marie Flops Again

Adele, Carrie Underwood and Adam Lambert in a Three-Way Race for #1

While it's still early in the week, a three-way battle is shaping up for #1 between Adele and Carrie Underwood, both of which will have substantial post-Mother's Day drops, and Adam Lambert, who appears to be trending to the high end of expectations.

The former American Idol runner-up and 19/RCA recording artist’s sophomore album, Trespassing, looks set to debut with between 70-80k, which will at least put him in the running for a chart-topping bow. His 2009 debut, For Your Entertainment, scored first-week sales of 198k, which was good for a #3 debut, albeit on the Tuesday after Black Friday.

Columbia rock parodists Tenacious D’s Rize of the Fenix roused fans of the duo’s Jack Black and Kyle Gass to buy 45-50k, less than the 81k they scored back in Nov. ’06 with The Pick of Destiny, but still impressive.

Columbia’s Glee: The Music, The Graduation Album is on target for 40-45k.

Sub Pop’s Baltimore dream pop duo Beach House is eyeing 20-25k for their fourth album, Bloom, and second for the influential Seattle indie.

Garbage’s first indie foray, Not Your Kind of People, on their own Stun Volume label, should do in the 18-22k range. Their last album, 2005’s Bleed Like Me, for Geffen, did approximately 75k.

Album sales were down 3% vs. last week, down 2% vs. same week last year and down 1% year to date.

Track sales were down 2% vs. last week, up 1% vs. same week last year and up 7% year to date.

TEA sales were down 3% vs. last week, down 1% vs. same week last year and up 1% year to date.

Nobody takes Lisa Marie seriously. She's just Elvis' daughter and MJ's first wife. That's what she'll always be known as.I don't know why she even bothers making albums. It's not like she needs the money anyway lol

Having celebrity genes does not mean you have what it takes to succeed and like Soul said no one takes her seriously.

I always imagined there would be some interest there though. Just because of her last name.

Guess not. lol

MIA is almost 40 and she does very well....

To be frank, I dont think Lisa had the drive foreal. She had the desire but it seems she didnt and doesnt push for it.

Not everyone over 35 (who debuts) does as well though. Plus the songs she put out wasn't real good also. So that adds to it.

They promoted her like she was actually doing something... disbelief lol

Lights Out was okay but I think it was underwhelming.

Well her CD just came out yesterday, so they probably wont have any projections for her until next week. BTW she's going to be performing on American Idol tomorrow.

HITS & Billboard do one-day reports that estimate the entire week. Since there was no mention of her she's predicted to do less than 18k. (The lowest estimate in the article.)

Hmmm, that's interesting. I just checked it on Amazon and she's got 10 reviews already, so at least 10 people have bought it lol

Sorry, but with the numbers Prince does, I don't think Prince fans should be one to talk. I'm not an LMP fan, but I do like her sometimes and feel she is just a human being like all, even if I disagree with stuff she says sometimes. From what I've heard of the new album, it sounds like she's stepped it up musically and has worked with a respectable producer, and I doubt she cares about sales though I wish her well this time for the effort she put in.

How sad if Adam Lambert debuts with 80,000 sold and takes number one, they almost sell more albums in Instanbul week one then we do here in this country, wow how the mighty USA has fallen, time to change those certifications, i mean i forget what country it is, but DIAMOND is selling a million lol!

I mean to put it in perspective, Morten Harket (a-ha frontman) just released a new solo record week one it was number 2 and then jumped to number one week 2, its sales total in that country is 60,000 for two weeks. NOW i know people will say damn thats shit, but Norway has about half the amount of people in that country than are in NYC alone. People just aint buying music here anymore

I remember when going double platinum was considered modest-success. Now every big name in the industry would just love to hit that mark. lol

Hell when Adele hit two million as quickly as she did with "21" people couldn't stop talking about it like "wow, already!? eek " lol Still I think we got spoiled with the Beatles and them selling albums constantly - and there's a question about their album sales being inflated. lol

I actually think if Lisa came out in the 70s she would have been huge. Her father was fresh in everybody's minds, she was young & marketable, attractive. I mean look at Miley Cyrus. You don't think all the Elvis stans could have done the same for his daughter?

She could have been an enormous teen idol.

Like I said if she released her music in the '90s, she'll be known as a singer instead of being not only Elvis' daughter but Michael Jackson's and Nicolas Cage's ex-wife.

I don't think it could have worked then either because of the marriage to MJ. The press is kinder to child stars then adults. I think people would have given her a break 30 something years ago as opposed to "mooching off" her husband in the 90s, which is how the media would have spun it.

Am I making sense? I'm trying to.

I think she was trying to push her music in like '91 or '92 before she dated/married MJ. But yeah I get what you're saying.
