I've never seen Kool and The Gang live, but if they were playing at a club (...like BB King's in NYC) and tickets were under $40, I would absolutely go, figuring they would have to be at least good entertainment for a night out on the town.

Although, Kool and The Gang hasn't been the same for me since their 1973-1976 period. Now THAT would be the Kool and The Gang I would pay any price to go see live (...if I had a Time Machine, of course). As good, if not over-played, as "Celebration", "Ladies' Night", and "Get Down On It" were, they only reminded me of how much I missed "Jungle Boogie" and "Hollywood Swinging". But for all I know, they may still be performing those songs with integrity. It would just suck for me knowing that not all the original members were there on stage.

Still, a $38 ticket, and a venue within 30 minutes of home, would have me at the show.

Not without JT. Saw them live with him and it was fantastic back in the 90's. Tight band. My friend said they were just ok when they opened for VH.

Absolutely. I can live without JT all day long...never was crazy about him and the crossover era anyway.

I saw them back in the day before JT and again a little over a year ago...excellent musicianship to this day.

We're on the same page. Celebration and Ladies Night are good, but...

When I saw them they sounded much more like the 70s incarnation of Kool and the Gang. I near bout died when they played Open Sesame, cool

Why are you surprised by that? lol Kool and the Gang haven't released an album in years and haven't been on many folks' radar unlike Van Halen, who just released an album. Are you shocked by that or just shocked that they were actually on a Van Halen tour? lol

I would KILL for a K&tG/VH concert, good combination: party R&B/Funk/Rock at its best

I know right? I would have a ball myself. Seeing funk and R&B on one hand and hard rock on the other. A perfect mix. cool

Worth seeing live compared to what? You joking right? The show will be as live as YOU make it.

I jut saw them on the Van Halen Tour in the Tacoma Dome, where Prince played the last Welcome 2 Canada show. It was awesome!!! Kool and em were excellent and the crowd knew all the songs. David Lee Roth came up with the idea to have them on this tour. It's funny if you listen to the Van Halen song "The Best Of Both Worlds" (with Sammy Hagar),the main guitar riff sounds suspiciously like the melody of "Celebration"! Definitely worth checking them out.
