I think it's a good song. Especially considering the album it's on. But it bores the piss out of me. It's so damn repetitive. And they spent about 5 minutes coming up with the music. Thankfully the vocals give it a catchy hook, even if it's an over-simplified one. Which is something that can't be said about much of the rest of the album.

MDNA's best moments are some of the best moments of Madonna's career, I don't think that can be said of Hard Candy. That being said, both albums have there weak spots (Spanish Lessons, Turn Up The Radio). I Think Hard Candy works better as a cohesive album though.

Hard Candy has gems on it, MDNA is garbage in comparison though some songs are really well done. The two albums are nothing alike, but I prefer Hard Candy. I hope the tour makes up for the album.

I like everything about it,especially the lyrics.That whole concept of "so close yet so far away" makes for a great song.She was dealing with the end of her marriage and realizing that the dream is fading away.

I think there are at least 10 good songs on MDNA which makes it worth picking up IMO. I definitely can't say that about Hard Candy. I think of maybe 3 that I like from that album.

I agree those are good songs, the better ones on the album. The other two I like are Love Spent and I think Falling Free is pretty.

wow,this thread is interesting I thought that the general consensus among fans was that Hard Candy was a dud and MDNA was the return to form (an opinion that I don't really share....I like both albums).

It's just interesting to see Hard Candy finally getting some love from fans...lol....

Yes, I'm surprised by that too. I still don't like Hard Candy except for a few songs, but I love MDNA. I think it's one of her best. I guess it's all a matter of personal taste. I'm not too big on the R&B and hip hop feel of HC.

Agreed. Those were the parts that made me not buy the album.

How so? 4 Minutes is a great song. It's not your average run of the mill song. Also Candy shop is good, even though I think 4 Minutes is better.

4 minutes is the best track on Hard Candy and better than anything on MDNA. I'm still trying to let MDNA grow on me, right now I love GGW, Gang Bang, Masterpiece and Falling Free. The rest I can sit through but don't really feel. I haven't gotten to the bonus tracks yet cause I get tired of listening after the main album and am still trying to make it grow on me.

"4 Minutes" is a good song...catchy,radio-friendly with a strong hook.It will probably remain Madonna's last major hit single.I still can't believe she didn't use this song (or at least the music) for her SuperBowl performance.The marching band sound was tailor-made for an event like that.

I have to say that the deluxe version of MDNA is much more convincing than the actual album. If you replace some of the album tracks with the bonus ones, it's pretty ok. Not as good as COADF, but still not bad at all.

I'm not a fan of Hard Candy. I even have some problems with stronger tracks like "4 minutes". Although a good song, I don't think that the instrumentation with its brass synth sounds lives up to its potential. Other songs are just much too long with extended parts or sections I don't like. A lot of choruses are repetitive as hell, in short: lazily written etc.

I think it's just about living in the moment. And I think she said in an interview that the song idea was born from someone in production saying, "You can't save the world in 4 minutes," referring to the length of a typical pop song.

As a sidenote: I'm kind of sad at the thought of this song being her last hit ever. It doesn't even sound like her and is so lacklustre. Tim could've given this to anyone.

Tina and Cher have both had huge hits and tours years after people thought they were gone. Madonna's will to stay relevant will probably give her at least another major hit.

Yeah,that's what I assumed it was about....having fun before time runs out.It's not really a deep message,but most of her dance songs don't have profound lyrics anyway
