Songs about animals

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

OMG the songs that appear along the side of the "Shannon" video reads like a list of The Sappiest Songs Ever Recorded in the 1970's. Here's a sampling:

"Wild Fire" - Michael Murphey (and yes, there was no "Martin" in his name when he cut this tune)

"Indiana Wants Me" - R. Dean Taylor (I loved this song to death when I was 12)

"Alone Again" - Gilbert O'Sullivan (the name alone is reason for shame)

"Undercover Angel" - Alan O'Day (What? Cliff Richard wasn't available?)

"Magnet and Steel" - Walter Egan (Tip: Change your name from Walter if you want pop longevity)

He started out in a group with Michael Nesmith before Nez joined The Monkees. Murphy also wrote a song The Monkees recorded called What Am I Doin' Hangin' Round.
