Have they been doing International artists for a while or is this new? Its cool they giving these guys some recognition. Lira sings beautifully. Mokobe has great music to dance to if you go african clubs, kinda like music from the caribbean cuz its very upbeat and happy. Dont know the other international artists though..

Is this what it's come to ? I remember when I was younger I would not miss an awards show for anything. The anticipation of seeing certain artists perform was exciting. I mean who is that one superstar that you would lose sleep over to stay up and watch them close the show? This is just too sad for an old-schooler like myself.

Brianna Perry is a rapper who had a moderate hit in the hip hop community entitled "Marilyn Monroe"

This award show is a joke just like the rest of them but this is obviously ridiculous.... There desperate for ratings, nominations and relevancy... There are plenty of artists that they could have nominated but still the SAME OL overrated oversaturated contestants...

What about R. Kelly? El Debarge? Kelly Price? Jill Scott? Ledsi? Mint Condition? Weekend? J Cole? etc They all had a successful year on the radio and radio airplay not to mention they had Grammy nominations even though it really doesnt mean anything...

My days of watching award shows ended in 2010 So not phased by these meaningless shows but they damn they just get worse and worse every year

True, but New Edition is not that far behind. They deserve their props as well. I honestly think they're gonna go the safe route and pick NE over them, for various reasons. (Can you think of them?)

My thing is this, I do think New Edition probably deserves one but RIGHT NOW? NO...Just like Janet deserves one to but I dont think she deserves to get one right now when their are more legends that came before her that hasnt been recognized yet

What about Sly Family Stone, WAR, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Smokey Robinson, Temptations, Stevie Wonder, and the list goes on.... BET treats the black legends like shit and only choose speicifc ones that will give them ratings....

I dont take that segment in the show seriously as well as the award shows only geared toward popularity and ratings...

Chaka has already gotten it. Aretha declined to receive it. I just think they do that segment to boost ratings, like always.

I was just naming names from the top of my head but there are alot of others that havent receive it besides the ones I mentioned. I think that segment has always been for ratings... if Janet ever receives it I would watch it. Like when MJ passed I watched it and when Prince received it I only watched that segment and EL performance.. besides that I dont watch these award shows and find that alot of people that care about them on a site like this is dumb only because we know how they operate already...

The nominations dont surprise me because thats how these award shows operate.. its the SAME shit that has been this way over the last 15 years now but I guess if people find discussing a popularity contest entertaining that go ahead
