Exclusive news ahead of Sunday’s 2012 Billboard Music Awardsthat will be an emotional roller-coaster:

There will be tears as the Whitney Houston tribute plays out and daughter Bobbi Kristinaand sister-in-law Pat Houston are onstage to accept the Millennium Award posthumously at MGM Grand Garden Arena.

John Legend and Jordin Sparks will perform a tribute.

RIGHT!!!!! An award like that shouldnt be given out every year because it loses its meaning but then again Beyonce doesnt deserve an award of that prestigue, it was a joke and I think she brought that award

I know, I feel ya! And Ms. Knowles definitely didnt "win" that Millenium award Money exchanged hands, just like with her upcoming journalistic award

I hate to be salty, and not that she DOESNT deserve the award, but if she didnt die would she have even gotten this award? Fake asses.

If they were going to give an award like this out in the first place, it definitely should have started out with someone like Whitney. If Beyonce was to ever get an award like this, it should have been years down the road and with integrity instead of buying it for shameless self promotion. I know everyone was cheering Beyonce on that night, but I really don't think anyone believes she's the queen even if she is a very hard worker and successful. At the end, look who presented her with the award, I don't think anyone would have been able to keep a straight face giving her that award so soon and for coming up with "uh oh uh oh uh oh oh oh"

She got an award in 1999 for achievement, I think it was either Billboard's or Soul Train, it escapes me right now. I also remember her getting a BET award in 2002 with tributes, and her daughter was there. She really deserved it then, but I wanted janet or michael to get it more then though I know she was beginning a new album era and the two had gotten similar awards that time at other shows.

Whitney Houston's sister-in-law -- Pat Houston -- is waging war against Bobbi Kristina because she desperately wants to accept Whitney's Billboard Music Award on her behalf ... and only BK is standing in her way.

Sources closes to the situation tell TMZ ... Pat is trying to force herself into the spotlight by accepting Whitney's Millenium Award at the ceremony in Las Vegas tonight ... and producers of the show are pissed.

We're told the show really wants BK to accept the award and make the speech on the late singer's behalf ... but Pat won't stand for it and is making life hell for them as she tries to worm her way into the segment.

Sources tell us ... the show's producers feel BK is the best choice to represent Whitney's legacy and they're convinced Pat is simply exploiting the situation to get publicity for her upcoming reality show.
