Next week: Adam Lambert #1

Looks like Adam may do it!

Adam Lambert Headed for No. 1 on Next Week's Billboard 200 Albums Chart

May 16, 2012 | By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles

The Good News: Adam Lambert is vying for his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart next week.

The Bad News: His Trespassing set may only sell around 70,000 to 80,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, May 20, so say industry sources. It could mark the smallest sum at No. 1 on the chart since last August (chart dated Aug. 20), when Adele's 21 sold 76,000 in its 12th nonconsecutive week atop the list, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

But don't break out the bubbly just yet. Trespassing may be blocked from the top slot next week by either Carrie Underwood's current champ, Blown Away, or Adele's 21. Both albums could sell perhaps 65,000 to 75,000.

The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, May 23.

Lambert, who finished in second place on the 2009 season of Fox TV's "American Idol," saw his first major label studio album, For Your Entertainment, debut at No. 3 later that year with 198,000 in its first week (according to SoundScan). The album was released during the very busy Thanksgiving shopping week and was blocked from the top slot by Susan Boyle's I Dreamed a Dream (a debut at No. 1) and Andrea Bocelli's My Christmas at No. 2.

To support Trespassing this week, Lambert played ABC's "Good Morning America" on Monday (May 14) and is scheduled to perform on "American Idol" on Thursday (May 17).

Other albums on course for notable debuts next week include the Glee - the Music: the Graduation Album soundtrack, Tenacious D's Rize of the Fenix, Beach House's Bloom and Garbage's Not Your Kind of People.

I think Carrie will take it by mere thousands. My guess.

Interesting that not a single album u mentioned in this thread is worth my time.

I may check out Adam's new joint though.

They're jumping into conclusions with this prediction (though it'll be a top 3 debut for him, probably his second #3 album). Adele and Carrie's sales would be pushed from the attention from the Billboard Music Awards this Sunday. I read somewhere saying no one's sure which of the three will be #1. I also read Adam may just do 70,000. He was predicted to do an estimated 100,000 a few weeks ago.

Yes billboard music awards r on sunday nite and sales cut off is sunday midnite and i dont see them having much impact for next week sales. The impact will be felt the other week and Adele isnt even attending the ceremony

Well it is on a Sunday lol I still think it's early. Remember, they said Adele was going to return to #1 during Mother's Day week and then Carrie began boosting stronger sales but we'll see. Sometimes often or not they're right. Hits Daily said they're not sure who's gonna be #1 yet so it's up for grabs. nod

According to a source, Adele is overwhelmed by all the attention she's still getting from the album... this is one person that wants her privacy... Carrie's gonna be there though.

They got no choice. Billboard awards to the best-selling only. It's not like the Grammys when it's voted on.

Well that's what's bound to happen. She's gotta win. Billboard Awards are about sales.

Yeah and since the album's gonna possibly be the first album in the 2010's era to go 10x platinum/diamond, people are definitely gonna try to search her out. That's why she moved to a home in the country.

No it didnt but under estimates both album totals.

This is what billboard said

Silversun Pickups, Tank, Karmin and Keane Aiming for Top of Billboard 200
by Keith Caulfield, L.A. | May 11, 2012 9:02 EDT

Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away" may find itself at No. 1 for a second week on the Billboard 200 albums chart, fending off Adele's "21." Industry sources suggest Underwood's fourth album will sell between 95,000 and 110,000 by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, May 13.

EW gave it a B-, they thought he did well with the uptempo numbers but thought he was doing too much with the ballads.

I don't know what date it was but Billboard did straight up say Adele would be #1 by Mother's Day, they changed their story before posting the one you mentioned.

Have to say that's quite a steep down from his last album's sales. neutral

Both the AMAs and Billboard counts sales.

I see you decided to pick a negative review out of all his postives. He's been getting a lot of good ones.
