Adele's Label 'To Re-Release 21 With New Tracks'

Adele's record company is reported to be planning to bring out a repackaged version of her smash-hit album 21 in time for Christmas - including some extra tracks.

The Daily Star Sunday claims that XL Recordings is hoping to see it become the biggest-selling album in UK chart history, which this year moved up to fifth place in the all-time sales chart after overtaking Michael Jackson's Thriller.

The top four are currently Queen's Greatest Hits at No 1, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles at No 2, Abba's Gold at No 3 and (What's the Story) Morning Glory? by Oasis at No 4.

A source told the paper: "A repackaged album is currently being discussed. It's not yet confirmed that it will feature new material or songs that didn't make the original album but it makes sense to bring it out."

21 is currently enjoying its 68th week in the chart (at No 4), and 23 of those weeks have been at No 1.

The star revealed last week that she went unnoticed in Trafalgar Square by wearing her PJs.

Agreed. On a different topic, when labels do this I feel completely justified in "stealing" the new songs. If you already bought the album once you should not be "forced" to buy it a second time. At least when Lady Gaga released The Fame Monster people had the option of buying the new songs separately for a lower price.

Agree with all of you above, like Adele but not this exploitation.

True, it's just not the same album, so it shouldn't count.

If you have a few new songs you want people to hear, just release an EP or something

I didn't think they would do this to her album, but I'm not surprised, especially if Adele is truly taking a hiatus - that's just another to keep milking 21 (how old will Adele be on her next album title?)

yeah i hate when they do it too, im like come on you couldnt let me know this was going to happen a year ago? THIS is why i wished cdsingles wouldnt have gone away or that Itunes would have singles but not just 99cent songs or 1.29 whatever they cost with one song, have like a real single with a song and a bside (though there are no sides) and charge 1.79 or 1.99, if these artists or labels i should say wanna milk it, milk it from day one so you dont have to drop another 10 bucks on tracks that "you just thought of"

They're still selling decently well with the original release. The only way to explain this re-release is if they think this will push it back to #1, also if they're tired of shipping the same amount of discs of the original. I think that's the reason for most re-releases or even releases of EPs that count on the original album's sales (i.e. Gaga overseas). They did this with "19" and Adele was against that re-release and I don't think she'll be happy about this one either.

This may be true...btu it is a dissapointment to release this after say the holidays when it could have been more appropriate. Now it just seems like she's trying to dupe the public for more cash.

You're FUMING. lol

Btw Adele didn't even show her face at the BBMA (because of oversaturation) and still took home 12 awards.

lol ouch!

Moving on. Re-releases are such rip offs. I don't think they should re-release the album. Just rally up the outtakes and make an EP. I don't care for her music anyway...Just adding my two pennies worth.
