I just recently picked up the Deluxe Edition of Bad Girls with the MacArthur Park Suite on it.

I also hate how in the original or versions based on it, the climax comes out of nowhere and sounds like the writer himself got bored with the song and wanted to change it.

She has always been "The Voice" to me and probably always will be. A song about a literal cake or a figurative meaning. It doesn't matter. It sounds awesome!

How old is she now?

She's taken care of her talent very well and still can deliver her old powerful songs.

I have always loved her voice and this is one of her finest moments, her voice the sweeping arrangements and the way she holds those notes. Wow this is some of the finest soulful disco diva art around.

Definetly agree, there's a reason why Donna's the queen of disco. Also I don't see much of a reason to love my signature

co-sign. this is absolutely my favorite song of hers for the reasons you cite. there are many people who do remakes of songs, and you think, why did they bother? donna took a somewhat maudlin, cloying song and took it to a whole other level that i don't think anyone would have thought possible.

That breakdown fade out where only the bass remains and then the song gradually works it's way back in is hot!

I remember when I first heard it and was sad because I thought the song was fading out and couldn't believe that it wasn't even halfway over. I can't believe she's gone

Just heard the news, Donna Summer has passed away from cancer. RIP The first lady of Disco soul.

I remember when my son was playing trumpet in the high school band and he was practising the MacArthur Park Suite. I asked him if he had ever heard the lyrics to it and he said no. So, I went out searching for Donna's version of the song and when he heard it, he was blown away. And, I still am now... Gonna miss her voice like crazy... These lyrics from MacArthur Park are really applicable today:
