Azealia Banks beef with Lil' Kim

It seems Lil' Kim just can't stay out of drama these days when it comes to new girls on the hip hop scene. We all remember her feud with Nicki Minaj...this time it's Azealia Banks.

You wanna rumble with the B huh?

Beefs just might be the fast track way to the top for up and coming rapper Azealia Banks, who’s no stranger to tweefing [ twitter + beefing] with artists and bloggers. She was back at it again this weekend; this time with her alleged idol Lil Kim who she claims brushed her off after she sent her a track to work on. On Saturday, she subliminally tweeted:

It really sucks when someone you respect and admire is trying to act brand new when all u did was reach out and try to work.. I can’t lie.. My little feelings are hurt. Women are so petty…. But whatever… Your loss.. Not mine.

Today, Azealia was a little more bold and actually name dropped Lil Kim while explaining why she was so upset. According to her tweets, she reached out to Lil Kim to see if they could do a track together and sent a reference verse. Lil Kim was offended by the fact that Azealia wrote the verse for her [rightfully so] and her assistant basically sent Azealia a ‘Thanks, but no thanks’ email.

Okay so true tea is that Lil Kim got mad that I wrote a verse for her on a record I wanted her on.

Everyone knows Lil Kim doesn’t write her own raps and I saw this as a faster more efficient way of getting the track done.

She then had her assistant write me some long ass offensive email about how Lil Kim writes her own raps and doesn’t need anyone’s help.

So….. My question was and is still… IS SHE DOING THE TRACK?

Who cares about what you use to do…. WILL YOU DO THE TRACK??!

All this extra sh-t is stupid. Keep closing your own doors ma. @lilkim

There is no beef. At all.

Meanwhile, Kim’s reps are accusing Azealia Banks of manufacturing a fake beef with Kim for publicity. After Azealia’s initial tweets of being snubbed by an artist, Kim’s reps released a statement to All Hip Hop, saying that Kim was surprised by Azealia’s statements since the two have never met or spoke at all.

Earlier today a press release went out making a claim that there was friction between Hip Hop Icon “Lil Kim” and aspiring hip artist azealia banks. The release comes as a surprise to our team, being that my client and azealia have NEVER spoke to one another or met AT ALL. Kim was actually very flattered azealia’s public admiration for her, which is why it’s so hard to understand how someone who claims to be a true Lil Kim fan could flip the script so easily on someone who was supposedly their idol.

It is also VERY interesting that NO ONE from her team made any attempts to reach out to anyone from our team to voice any concerns or problems that they may have had. I have NEVER heard of anyone having a conflict with someone they have NEVER met with or personally spoke with. We have no idea what they are referencing and have no desire to discuss the matter any further as there is nothing to talk about. It honestly seems that someone from azealia’s team would rather have her fans buy into manufactured drama instead of buying music. Kim knows nothing of any beef, and furthermore has had nothing but nice things to say about her. We don’t know what this is and will not address this any further. It seems that this is another sad attempt by someone trying to use my client for publicity. We wish her nothing but the best.

Granted, Lil Kim’s reps released the press release before Azealia actually name dropped Kim on twitter so she hasn’t had the chance to respond to Azealia’s claims that she sent her a verse…And we know Lil Kim is not about to do a track with Azealia now that she called her out like that. Not only did she blast Kim on twitter, but she took little side swipes

@LilKim you DO know that YOUR management where the ones who said u needed us to write a reference verse in the first place .. Right?

BUT I BETTER NOT HEAR NONE OF MY LYRICS ON YA RECORDS MA! I WILL SUE DAT AZZZZZ!

Oh well … I’m still gonna steal all of her outfits & hairstyles … ‘cept I’m gonna keep all the credit and not involve her in any of it.

@LilKim real talk I just want that verse …. ya know..? I’m not really here for ur team and they’re pseudo professionalism

@LilKim u can still use the verse of you want.. Or feel free to write your own. But you should really do the verse

Lol all bullshit aside I’m here for this $$$$$$$$$$$. Let’s get it … Why not?

@LilKim YOU KNOW YOU WANT TOOOOO

@LilKim COMAAAAAAAAAAAAAHN!

As much as we’d love to see Kim on a track with another female artist, Azealia ain’t gonna be it. Lil Kim is not gonna do that track after this twitter stunt. She may even run and do a track with Iggy Azeala after this to prove a point. Meanwhile, Azealia Banks did get in the studio with one other female artist, Missy Elliott, who she announced she worked with last month.

@MissyElliot and I are working together! Y’all m’fkkahs r SERIOUSLY NOT READY FOR THIS

From the cuts I heard Azealia on, she's nice.

As for Kim, this isn't the first time she's been accused of rapping someone else's rhymes.

Azelealia Banks is trying too hard.

First she "came out" as bi trying to garner support from the LGBT community.

Then she went militant on Iggy Azalea trying to garner the support of the black community by "race baiting" even though Iggy is backed by T.I.

After listening to that 212 bullshit she put out, I can safely say that this chick needs to focus on her MUSIC. You can't beef with a hip-hop artist about hip-hop when your shit ain't hip-hop. That 212 shit may go over well in the techno clubs but its nt hot in the streets. She's not hot in the streets. She really seems to be grasping at straws, looking for anybody who is willing to take her.

She needs direction and focus. She seems to have a little lyrical talent but she has no sound of her own and until she does she won't really make a mark as anything other than a youtube artist.

She's trying the same techniques that 50 did on Rick Ross. That didn't work out too well for 50 but 50 had millions already. Rick Ross still ended up selling because he has his own sound and style. At the end of all of the beefs and disses you have to have good music to stand on once you get everyone's attention.

The reason why some of you haven't heard of Azealia Banks until this thread is because a majority of you are still stuck in the 80's and don't know jack about new artists or are willing to give them a chance.

Azealia is the only female hip hop artist (actually she maybe the only hip hop artist period) to make it #1 on NME's annual 'cool list' last year - must be doing something right!

So, you know everybody on the board and what they listen to?

Interesting.

She's not poppin' off in the States. The States is the home of hip-hop. She's not making waves here. People know who she is but that Euro dance shit does not pass for hip-hop over here. They aren't bumpin' her in the hip-hop clubs because her music is too Eurodance.

I've been hip to her since November of last year. Knowing who someone is doesn't mean they are good or that you are into them; you just know them.

This chick is green and arrogant. She approached someone who is already far more established than her and tried to get her to do a song with her (how does that benefit Lil' Kim?) and THEN committed the ultimate insult - she wrote another MC's verse for them without them asking - surely she couldn't have possibly expected a positive response from that. Kim is doing some wack shit now but make no mistake, Kim is hip-hop. Miss Banks has a long way to go and has yet to truly prove herself. She needs to come correct on her own. I hear potential but going the four-on-the-floor route this early in her career is going to corner her. She is from NY but it seems like she's trying to skip the States and do hip-hop in Canada. To her, I say "Good luck with that."

And to correct you, a lot of people on the board aren't stuck in the 80s - they go back to listening to 80s music after being disappointed by the crap that a lot of today's artists are releasing.

Exactly!! I confess to not being in the mix with hip hop over the last few years and its writers, but i went to peeps to listen to hip hop like it was a new thing and shit was happening, and they never heard of her, the beef was the first time they heard of her, and to be honest they all said "a beef with Lil Kim, why not beef with someone that is still relevant in the game of hip hop, Lil Kim is long over"

Good to see I hit a nerve -But please note I said 'a majority' - not all people on this forum are stuck in the past - but most are! And the proof of that is quite a few people on here said they didn't know who Azealia banks was when she is practically everywhere.

Either way your opinion has little value to me but if you do respond – please keep it concise.
