Maroon 5 Dropping New Album in June

March 27, 2012

Link

Maroon 5 have been hard at work on a new album, and now we know some details about the project. The band has announced that the disc will be called Overexposed, and it'll hit stores June 26.

The ten-song disc, which Adam Levine calls "one of our most diverse and poppiest albums yet," is the group's follow-up to 2010's Hands All Over. It'll be the first release since the band's career was revived by Adam's stint on The Voice, and the subsequent release of "Moves Like Jagger."

Guitarist James Valentine said in a statement, "'Moves Like Jagger was the first time we ever worked with an outside writer, so we decided to try it some more on this record...We wanted to make something that sounded contemporary with the elements of a lot of early eras of pop music. This is our most 'pop' record ever and we weren’t shy about really going for it."

Producers on the project include Max Martin, Benny Blanco and Ryan Tedder, all of whom have crafted numerous pop hits for dozens of artists over the years. Even rapper Wiz Khalifa appears on one track, titled "Payphone."

It's worth noting that Maroon 5 keyboard player Jesse Carmichael won't appear on this album; he's taking a temporary break from the band to "pursue more full-time studies in music and the healing arts," according to the band's Twitter feed.

The best review I ever read of Maroon 5's work was something like, "This album is exactly the same as the last 3 albums. But if you find something that works, why change?"

I've seen them twice in concert. The first time they were great. The second time I could not tell you if they played the same songs as the first time or not. They all sounded the same.

The thing that got me was that Adam Levine literally strapped on a different guitar for every song, and then never played more than one or two bars at the end of the song with it.

It got to be a joke among us, LOL.

In keeping with that theme, did he play the same make of the guitars? lol

The brother, PJ Morton, began touring with the band in 2010, contributing background vocals and keys. The band's regular keyboardist, Jesse Carmichael, took an undetermined leave of absence for "spiritual reasons".

Is that the same PJ Morton from the gospel world? The son of Bishop Paul Morton?

I LOVE their first 2 albums. I think you would like their albums. They actually tell stories and have full concepts for projects.

Me either. I think it's a catchy pop tune, but it does nothing for me.

I Hate this band lol

I understand osme people dig them, but they have annoyed me since they came out. When they first came out, people in my school where like there alternative artsy rock... and now there being played in gay dance clubs lol

So from rock to this dance crap they do now. They have sucked all along the way to me confused

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

All music is shit music and no music is real- gunsnhalen

Jagger is the worst on that album, one of the tracks sounds Prince inspired, the second one. I sampled it one day before deleting it.

the colours of the album cover remind me of their Makes Me Wonder video, which to me is their best track to date. hope the new album is anywhere near as fun as that song.

"what's that book where they're all behind the wardrobe?"
