Paul Weller - Sonik Kicks

Any fans of this album?, i have to admit i was a little doubtful when i listened to some of the preview songs, but having listened to the album as a whole i think it works really well. Another very strong album, I think his vocal on the track "Be happy children" is his best in years, still got the magic!

We're here, might as well get into it.

i agree, he's still totally got the magic!.. i love how he champions young artists & isn't up his own arse

still relevant & knocking out some cool melodies! my favourite from the album is 'when your garden's overgrown'

incidently i think that's his daughter singing with him on 'be happy children'

Love it!, this album and 22 Dreams are up there with his very best (his first 3 solo LP's) in my opinion.

I'm sure that I will pick this up eventually but it is not a priority. I just got 22 Dreams and Wake Up the Nation a few months ago and haven't really listened to them very often.

It is in the same experimental vein as his last two records. I agree it does have quite a Blur sound though, check out "the dangerous age"

Paul Weller Strips Down 'Sonik Kicks'

June 19, 2012

English rock hero Paul Weller stopped by the Rolling Stone studio recently to play a few cuts from his latest solo album, Sonik Kicks. After the set, Weller explained that he added a touch of electronic textures to the record after getting into some electronic music compilations that he was given as a gift from his wife. "It's not a music I'd ever heard before and I liked the textures," he says. "I just wanted to bring a bit of that into pop music, which is what I do."
