Not just because some of the songs posted aren't in my top... 200 favorite Elvis songs... well, except Just Pretend is often my all time favorite Elvis song too, so thanks for that upthread.
Anyway thought I'd lighten things up a bit with some... Elvis with a throat infection - woo hoo! Errrm
And my favorite Elvis bad home recording, a song I love and wish he'd done in a studio proper.

Liked his Mona Lisa Version haven't heard that in a long time, so thanks. I'm surprised no one has done a remix with a piano/violens. That would be nice. He did Earth Angel just as good too I think the same sessions? Someone did a updated Don't Be Cruel live in the 50's and sound quality was nice too. It's on you tube. I'm definitely going to be buying a lot more Elvis music soon. I see that "Hit Story" is just 30 #1 hits & 2nd to none with a 3rd disc.. is the 3rd disc available as a stand-alone album, too? I already have 30 #1 hits, so there's no need to buy it again. I was considering buying '2nd to none' next..
My current collection is: The Sun Sessions CD Elvis 56 Elv1s 30 #1 Hits An Afternoon In The Garden Loving You Girls! Girls! Girls! + the 7" vinyl singles "Heartbreak Hotel", "My Baby Left Me" and "I Need Your Love Tonight"
I'm also trying to figure out what the best 'Sun sessions' release is.. apparently you recommend "Elvis at Sun".. the sound quality of "The Sun Sessions CD" isn't very good, so I definitely want to get a better CD. [Edited 5/12/12 23:19pm]

Yeah It's better quality for The Sun stuff. Not sure If they sell it separately. I never bought Elvis hitstory. I have so many that I stopped buying those greatest hits. Get the love song one that has alot of great stuff. 2nd to none is great too. Like I said buy them used. That's what I do nowadays.
This is a must have fantastic sound quality and great shows: http://www.amazon.com/Sta...mp;sr=1-10 and http://www.amazon.com/Rec...mp;sr=1-35 and DVD remastered and great SQ: http://www.amazon.com/Elv...amp;sr=1-2
CD's: http://www.amazon.com/Elv...amp;sr=1-3
My 2 favs beside the sun stuff: http://www.amazon.com/Fro...amp;sr=1-2 and http://www.amazon.com/Elv...amp;sr=1-1 Hope it's not an overload.
Check these out some cool stuff I've never seen:

I think I'm going to get '2nd To None' or 'Hitstory' next, just to have all the big hits that I don't have yet. Then, I want That's The Way It Is for "I Just Can't Help Believing" and On Stage for his version of "Yesterday".
I'm not sure how I'll go about the mid-60s onward, since his albums weren't as strong, and there's not many compilations covering that period; but since most of his albums are available very cheap on Amazon, it shouldn't take long to get them all. I think all of his albums had something worthwhile, so I want to buy them all eventually.
I'd like to get 'The Complete Elvis Presley Masters' box set, but seeing as it's almost $800, I don't think that's an option.

Crabalocker, I was just about to post this when I saw your update. There are some excellent comps for the period you mention. BUT not all with the latest remastering. Anyway, another time.
Elvis at Sun is the best available right now. Be aware that the Elvis Sun box could still be announced for release this (anniversary) year, if you have enough Sun interest that that would bother you.
My shortest list of would look at (and consider remastering issues): On Stage (Legacy Edition)

^ Thank you.
I just listened to 'Elvis Country' online.. it's definitely the next album I want to buy.. I actually think it's the best Elvis album I've heard so far.. I also just listened to all of "That's The Way It Is" and "Good Times", both of which I liked.

You're welcome. If Elvis Country and your listed tracks are your 'favorite Elvis' so far, my no-hesitation recommendation is:
Elvis Country (Legacy Edition) plus a (used) copy of Essential Elvis Vol. 4
OR alternatively to those
FTD Elvis Country (from the Follow That Dream collector's label Classic Album series)

I felt like everybody else felt about Elvis, you could never really get to be close to Elvis because he was always being guarded by his guys, but it really wasn't that way, he was very approacable. We talked all the time. He talked about his mother, he talked about religion.
For instance, if we were off for the weekend, he would come back on Monday and he would tell me everything he did over the weekend. It was just regular conversation. We would sing to his records in his dressing room.
He had just put out 'Suspicious Minds'and so he was practicing it.
Elvis and I were sitting there together and Mahalia came on the set and she asked Elvis if he would participate in a fund-raiser that she was going to organize. Elvis was so gracious, 'Oh, Mrs Jackson, I am so happy to meet you, I would love to do it, but I still have to ask the Colonel'. So after she left, he said to me, 'I'll never do it, the Colonel won't let me', but he was so gracious to her, he knew all the time the Colonel would not let him do it. ~ Barbara McNair
