Nearly seven years have passed since Anita Baker released her last studio album, now the Grammy Award-winning singer is ending her hiatus. Anita dropped by ABC's Good Morning America on Wednesday to talk about her music plans, and to explain why, as host Robin Roberts put it, she's been gone for "much too long."

Well you know, it has 'Been So Long,' that's a song I wrote, as well, you know. Most of people know that," Anita said, laughing. She explained, "You know, I'm an empty-nester now. I've got one, my youngest is coming to NYU. My oldest... is in Boston at Berklee College of Music, and I'm just trying to busy myself.

"

Part of Anita's plan to stay busy includes the release of a new album in the fall. She's also going on tour and will be on the road this week. "On Sunday, the whole band, we're all gonna to be at Radio City," Anita says of her upcoming New York City performance. "We're kicking off the new record. We're gonna do actually the first single there at Radio City with a surprise guest."

Anita is excited to be back, saying, "I just call it miracles of music, because it's just good for what ails me, you know?"

I hope the track she recorded with Snoop over one year ago will not make the final configuration of the album.

She sounded much more gravelly live than she used to...

I cant wait to hear the new album. I also want a Snoop-less new album.

I love Anita cuz she's my Detroit folk, but I hope she sounds alot better than that National Anthem Damn her voice sounded bad
