It was co-written by Babyface and L.A. Reid. The subject (from Reid's POV) is Pebbles, whom he later married.

Are they still married? Pebbles was beautiful back in the day, she still is actually.

I was gonna say before my internet connection cut off on me ( lol ) that nah they been divorced. Forgot the date tho.

Not a fan of his voice.. 2/5 - he's not terrible.

I had to look up online what songs he wrote for others, and most of my favorites were co-written with others, so as a songwriter I'll give him 4/5 - tons of really good songs, but somebody else co-wrote all of the best ones.

I thought L.A. Reid wrote that song, I could be wrong though.

They were a songwriting team then. From my understanding, Face was the main writer and LA came in and wrote a few elements.

He should have stayed in The Deele and the other bandmembers shouldn't have let him do anything other than sing and play the songs that they wrote.

Dick Griffey wasn't going to let that happen. Face started writing for other acts on the SOLAR label and after the success of "Sweet November," Griffey had to let him do a solo project. Not to mention he had written "Slow Jam" for Midnight Starr and a few other songs for the label's acts.

When he did that "Grown & Sexy" album, I just faint. It was horrible. And let's not forget that hideous video he did with the "one-hand clap" with Pharrell...damn what was that song...thinking....thinking.....had to look this shit up reading

Okay it was "There She Goes". That video was faint I don't know who the hell he was trying to be around that time, but I'm glad it only lasted with that one album. spit

With his "Musiq Soulchild" lookin' ass.....that was one big fail.

As a singer, 3/5, I mean he can sing better that Jamie Foxx lol

I totally get what he was trying to do with that project. Especially since the people he worked with were on the cutting edge of what was going on at the time, but the sound just didn't work for Babyface.

I did like a couple of songs on the album and "What If" was my favorite. The rest was just horrible.

nod It's amazing that he wrote so many songs for so many different artists but truly showed individuality between them in addition to making Brandy, Toni, and Mary J. stars.

I liked that album Face 2 Face. There She Goes wasn't his best song but at least

i could understand the lyrics unlike It's No Crime lol and it was something

to jam to. What If was the jam too. Other favorites were I Keep Callin,Don't

Take It Personal, Outside Inside Out I liked the majority of this album. The one i didn't like was that Baby Mama shit with Snoop Dogg. I liked this album because he stepped out of his

comfort zone just a bit from those sappy ballads like on The Day and stepped this

album up with more soul.

I would rate him a 7 as a singer and 8 as a songwriter.

"It's No Crime" is awesome! I think his mumbling is strangely intelligible. lol

Man, The Day is one of the most disappointing albums. I know following up Tender Lover and For the Cool in You wouldn't have been easy, but all of the spark of those two albums was missing.

3/5 for vocals

5/5 for songwriting as much of his 90s hits have aged well and still sound fresh....

Take a look:

Here's something that is never discussed: some of y'all been going on with how great a songwriter Face was but what was L.A.'s contribution? The lyrics or the music? Same with Face. There's also Daryl Simmons to tend with.

His debut is underrated. I heard it recently.

Songwriter?? OUTSTANDING. Boyz II Men's best album is a classic because of his songs.

Singer?? Pretty good. He could out sing most of the male singers occupying the charts right now.

As a long time musician and casual singer myself, Babyface has my respect.

He's written some of the great classics of modern R&B, but yes, his voice is average.

Like Prince you know who wrote the song, no matter who does it.

He was a guarantee hit machine at one time. Don't know what happened.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!
