I think Chris Brown is a big ole dummy whenever he opens his mouth but you have to give it to him, some of his songs are great, his choreography and dance moves are FANTASTIC, I don't love him as a person neccesarily but he puts on a damn good show and gives it his all and then some. smile

I don't see how people can listen to shit like "I can Transform ya", "Dueces", and "Look at me now" and think any of that shit is good let alone great.

I actually like "Dueces" boxed. I thought that song was so appropriate for his predicament at the time. I think he's rebounded successfully from beating the shit out of Rihanna. I don't condone domestic abuse, I think he feels remorseful about it. But if that negro pulls some shit like that again, his career is ova.

Deuces is the bomb, I Can Transform Ya has a cool hook, Look At Me Now is the worst shit ever recorded in a studio. Like for real, the studio needs to be fumigated and the engineer should be shot. I can't even believe Busta spit on that track but I guess a brotha gotta get paid.

He doesn't feel remorseful about a damn thang especially since Rihanna is letting him squirt in her again. Ole dumb heffa. I used to hate him but now.....she need to get some backlash.

Hate is too strong a word.

More like artists that other folks love that I don't get.

Beyonce is probably at the top of the list.

And it's not that I didn't try, I did. I just couldn't get into any of her music really barring "Halo" and maybe "Baby Boy".

barf Those are her worst songs ever. Have you heard "Party" or "Love On Top" even "Me Myself, and I" is listenable. Other than that her songs are awful. But I feel she was going in the right direction with 4, but it wasn't pop enough, so she's gonna come out with some some euro-pop/dance shit next time I guarantee it.

This is where personal taste comes into play because I've heard "Love on Top" and "Me Myself and I" and thought they were both boring.

In fact if I were forced at gunpoint to name off a favorite Beyonce song it'd probably be "Baby Boy".

nod There are a few songs I like but overall Diana and her Supremes are a lil bored I don't think she is that great of a singer. Too whispery or something.

Oh hell no. Diana can't sing AT ALL. lol

There goes that theory that back in the day you actually had to SING good to be successful. Berry wanted her little weak ass voice so the white folks would like it. Gotta make that money honey. lol

Many great jazz and cabaret singers had weak voices on a technical level. I like Whitney a great deal, but she is an extremely unsophisticated performer compared to a master like Diana.

Lennie Tristano, the great jazz pianist and composer, told his students to study Diana Ross. Her versatility is unmatched. Taking in her career as a whole, she is the greatest and most accomplished black female performer of all time, bar none.

If we're speaking strictly of him covering specific songs originally by black artists; tons of artists cover another artist's song and make it a huge hit.. it may suck for the original artist, but Elvis was not the only person to do it; and it wasn't only black artists whose songs he sung.

But some people complain about white people performing genres of music that were created by black artists, and I find that quite offensive..

It comes from a fear that they will eventually become the best selling and most celebrated of the genre and that we, the original buyers, will be left in the dust.

Funny thing is when I hear it's a cover song I always wanna know who did it first and If I like them I'll buy it. Steal is not the word it meanS the artist admired it enough to cover it and bring some sort of recognition to the original artist. Point blank. razz

Well, I guess it´s his voice and performance because I like the covers I heard from his songs.

And I can´t recall the title but whenever I hear an older song of him, I´m still surprised they announce it it a Dylan song. And 2 be honest, compare his voice with Stevie´s and..well, I prefer the soul lol But no disrespect, I know Dylan is a great songwriter and he deserves more credit than Elvis (OVERrated!!!!!!!!!!)

[Edited 5/1/12 12:00pm]

Dylan does NOT deserve more credit than Elvis. Dylan is a fraud. The original "Dylan" was Woody Guthrie. Bob Dylan stole Woody Guthries style- the only reason it worked is that Dylan had the image and Woody Guthrie didn't. Bob Dylan was handsome and Woody Guthrie was ugly but Guthrie was the origanl and Dylan is the rip off. I used to be a Dylan fan until I realized that he never did any of the things he sings about; he never worked on Maggie's farm, he didn't have the hard knock life he sings about; Woody Guthrie did. Dylan is a thief, he even says in his book that the way he wrote his songs was to get the newspaper and read about things that happened to OTHER people and he would write a song about it, which I suppose is a craft in itsself but he's not the real deal.

hmmm Appearantly, Joni Mitchell had a say about this as well: http://latimesblogs.latim...-fake.html

I'm not familiar with his body of work, so I wouldn't know.
