TLC will be touring North America later this year, according to reports.

TMZ writes that the R'n'B band's agent has told them that the band's surviving members, Tionne 'T-Boz' Watkins and Rozonda 'Chilli' Thomas, are currently planning a reunion tour.

The news comes on the 10th anniversary of the death of Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes. The band apparently plan to incorporate Lopes' vocals into the live shows and will be projecting her image on a big screen. So far five cities have been booked and there are plans for further concerts across the US.

Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes died at the age of 30 in a tragic car accident on April 25, 2002 in Honduras. A documentary about the last few days of her life The Last Days of Left Eyewas made in 2007 and featured footage of the fatal accident.

TLC released their fourth album, '3D' in 2002, six months after the death of Lopes. The group have been on hiatus ever since. The band are the second biggest selling girl group of all time, behind The Spice Girls.

Loved TLC. But I don't think they have much stage presence especially since Left Eye is no longer with them.

But good luck to them - I hope it works out.

That's it in a nutshell. I guess I can't blame them, I'm sure they both need the money.

T-Boz Has Been Working on Left Eye Hologram for Years

30th April 2012

Tionne 'T-Boz' Watkins is seriously considering bringing her late bandmate Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes back from the grave for an upcoming anniversary tour, insisting she thought up the idea years before rapper Dr Dre 'resurrected' Tupac Shakur for the Coachella music festivals.

Surviving TLC members T-Boz and Rozanda 'Chilli' Thomas announced plansfor their first U.S. tour in nine years on Wednesday (25Apr12) - exactly 10 years after rapper Left Eye was killed in a car accident.

A report on TMZ.com suggested the singers were interested in using the same holographic technology which made Tupac's 'performance' at the recent California festival shows possible, and now T-Boz reveals she has actually been working on the expensive idea for some time.

She tells Essence.com, "I have been trying to get a hologram (of Left Eye) for years but no one would pay for the budget".

Instead, the Waterfall hitmakers had to make do with projecting an image of Left Eye on to the big screens onstage during their performances.

T-Boz admits the thought of having her late pal join her and Chilli onstage again took some getting used to, but after witnessing Tupac's Coachella appearance, she's sure it will be a hit with fans.

She says, "With Lisa, the first three years, I don't think I could've dealt with a hologram, because you see how eerie it is. "(But) when I saw the Tupac hologram...

"I had tears in my eyes because he was my friend".

Doing the hologram type of thing as a one time tribute to someone, I 'get' and don't see anything wrong with it.

When it becomes about 'touring', then yeah it strikes me as kinda weird...

Funny how, ever since the Tupac "performance",everyone's coming out, insisting that they came up with the idea first lol T-Boz and the Jacksons claim that they already considered this idea years ago.

Didn't Natalie Cole do that with her father on a video and an award show performance 1st?

EUR Perspective: Time for the Holograms to Stop

May 3, 2012

Suddenly – like a bad episode of The Next Generation or a Total Recall deleted scene – the holograms are everywhere.

We all know that Tupac has already somehow released more albums dead than he has alive, but this most recent act was positively miraculous. Tupac emerged from six feet under to perform with Snoop Dogg at Coachella, leading to a massive amount of Twitter buzz and some enormous album sales. Next, the news emerged that TLC was planning on going back on tour with the dear departed Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez, using the same technology. It appears that – twenty years after Natalie Cole released the “Unforgettable” collaboration with her long-deceased father Nat King Cole – resurrection is all the rage.

Where is it going to stop? John Legend bringing Barry White, Luther Vandross and Teddy Pendergrass on stage for – literally – an all-soul concert? Will Curtis Mayfield and Isaac Hayes be serving as Lenny Kravitz’s backup singers? Is P. Diddy going to bring back Biggie for his next tour? How long is it appropriate before someone tours with the holograms of Michael Jackson or Whitney Houston?

This hologram craze has to go away, sooner rather than later. Nobody is denying the fact that the deaths of these artists – or Sam Cooke or Otis Redding or the dozens of other legends who were taken too early – were tragedies, or that the world would be infinitely better if they were still around, making music and touring. However, the use of these computerized graphics to bring them back from the grave cheapens their legacies. It might work for a one-off tribute (like in the case of the Tupac performance, apparently), but bringing them on tour comes off as particularly ghoulish. It’s sad, but these artists are all dead; let them rest in peace, and let our memories of them lie with the music they created and the performances they gave while alive – not as elements of a bad sci-fi film.
