DAN Those Lyrics!!!-The Steely Dan Lyrics Thread

Let's have a little fun since it's the weekend{or close to it}. I'm sure a lot of us here are fans of The Dan. So let's pay a small tribute to them by listing some of our most favorite and funniest lyrics from them. Now you know these dudes are notorious for their obtuse lyrics{in which nobody have any earthly idea what they're saying or what they're trying to say but Donald and Walter themselves}. It's like they make these songs and say..."HA-HA let's see them try to make sense of these lyrics". Even so, no matter what you think of their lyrical content, you got to admit, these studio perfectionists kick much tail.

So allow me to get the ball rolling here...

"My friend said no..don't go for that cotton candy...son you're playing with fire..the kid will live and learn.. as he watching his bridges burn to the point of no return".

Rudy

It must have been my lucky Thursday
Your dad went on that spree
Before the crew could put out the fires
You hopped a bus for NYC
Down in Tampa the future looked desperate and dark
Now you're the wonderwaif of Gramercy Park

Well, look at mine..."

But I plan to find the time..."
-from Pretzel Logic, a song about time travel

The neighbors are listening..."
-from Everything You Did (By the way, it wasn't a compliment. Sorry, Eagles fans smile)

There's one roulade she can't sing..."

That might be just the thing
Let's say we spike it with Deludin..."
