Would you go see Hologram Tupac if he did a tour? What if it was a real band performance that had been recorded for hologram display, like if Aerosmith did a 2 hour show in the big suits and it could be repeated every night?
I have to admit I find Hologram Tupac kind of creepy and wrong. I can't even imagine singing and dancing with a hologram of my dead friend. How the hell did Snoop make it through that set?
It would be a bit less creepy if a living artist hologrammed him/herself so future generations could "experience" their show. I'm still not sure I would go. Then again if it was revealed that the Who had recorded a hologram show while Keith Moon was alive I would be fairly tempted to check it out.
But what do you think?

Tupac is my favorite rapper of all time, but I would say "no." Let the man rest in peace. For that matter yes it was genius of Dre and Snoop to do this, but was it right or ethical. Where do folks draw the line when it comes to dead celebs? I prefer to remember Pac from Keep Ya Head Up

and please don't let these folks make a MJ Hologram or anybody else. Let Mike rest in peace too.

That's what I pretty much said in the Jacksons tour selling out thread. Leave the 2D Michael alone and go on your tour lol

Agreed-if the Jacksons are going on tour then let it be them and their performances and leave Hologram Mike oughtta this.

I think the harsh truth is... them by themselves would not do so well. I realize they where HUGE back in the 70's & earl 80's... but idk. I just don't see them doing that well & the Mike hologram brings more money. And in the end it's all about the green Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

I'm afraid this hologram thing is here to stay. I went to both Coachella weekends. I was suprised and a bit freaked out when the hologram of Tupac came on but I was able to enjoy and move on. The second weekend at Coachella however, the crowd for the Dr. Dre/Snoop Dogg set was massive. I mean massive. All other tents were basically left abandoned because everyone wanted to see the "hologram."
And besides, today's music fan likes their entertainers as manufactured as possible. They won't give a shit if it's a lady gaga hologram or the real thing. Since I truly am a fan of Pac this would've made me cry. I'm glad I did not witness it. Hell even watching it on youtube damn near brought tears to my eyes.

I didn't watch the video but I saw gifs and I could've sworn he was in my nightmares the other day.

So who do we think is gonna be the first artist to tour as a hologram?
Michael Jackson, already mentioned, is a very good bet. I don't know if they'll get it together for summer though.
In rock, I was fairly convinced it would be Aerosmith until my wife mentioned the Stones. They're into pioneering technology if it means good pay. They have health problems. They're supposed to tour next year.

I'm a fan too. And I was so confused by the 'hologram.' It came on after 50 Cent and Eminem performed and for a brief moment the conspiracy theories regarding his death crossed my mind, then I thought it was an impersonator and when it finally dawned on me what it was I felt creeped out and then I was in awe of the technology and immediately I feared the potential of what this hologram was going to do to the entertainment industry. There were too many emotions going on so I just worked my way out of the mob of people and walked over to see what was going on at the Mojave tent. I had to let it go and move the fuck on... No, I pay to see live artists make live music. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

"nah, not me.."real music by real musicians" is one thing but I definitely need "music by people actually alive and here" lol.
Whats up B-zilla? "Climb in my fur."

Great. The wave of the future will be hologram concerts supporting computerized releases by hologram "artists." Real music by real musicians won't even apply... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I normally don't agree with these article writers, but this one is on point. Like the writer said who knows what Tupac would've been into, dressed like or if he would even want to perform with Dre and Snoop Exploitation at it's highest level. For the people who are just now buying or experiencing Pac's music-shame on them.

exaclty, im really scared that this is catching on and TLC is gonna possibly do it on the anniversary tour, next we'll have timbaland and missy using poor aaliyah, etc...and GOD FORBID seeing Paul and Ringo toss in John and George. some people have said its the same thing as Natalie Cole singing with her dad, and them using a video screen, but this is quite a bit different IMHO "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

I think so too-Natalie actually sung with old footage of her father. Tupac's hologram is using his old mannerisms, but essentially it's a "new performance." I don't find anything wrong with what Natalie did-actually it was beautiful. The Tupac hologram is just wrong.

Y'know what is so funny... Pac wasn't getting along with either Dre or Snoop at the time of his death and Pac would've probably kept his shirt on since he probably would've quit rap by then.

The truth...I know him and Snoop were at each other's throat He hated both their asses I use to have respect for Dr. Dre leaving Deathrow and doing his own thing, but that respect went out the window with this hologram
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I lost my respect for Dre at the way he handled things like how he got out of N.W.A. or even how he got out of Death Row...
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Truth...cuz both of those situations were fucked up. Now he acts like him and Eazy were mending things before his death Dre has done some foul shit-you're right Timmy.
