I love your collections. So cool that you got to work with Boy George. I always loved Mistake Number Three. He was really beautiful in his videos, and so was his voice. His makeup was flawless! There were girls who copied his style, and came to school dressed like him with long braids and ribbons. Good times. smile wink

Yeah, for the first time in my life I miss the 80s in more ways than one--and it ain't got nothin to do with age, nostalgia, or a pompous attitude--it's the times we live in. Period. razz lol

Most fo your music is guilty pleasures rather than tacky I think. I have looked at both threads and only decided Tevin is forgettable, the Wham and Thompsons stuff is the shit. I loved Milli Vanilli back in the day. Their stuff was hard to get, All I rmember getting was a CD of Girl you know its true (Album) a tape of the remix album which got chewed, a vinyl single of Blame it on the rain, which warped after a while.

I miss the days, do you have Boyz ii Men stuff as well? Now that would be cool or any fresh prince ( i have the DVDs of seasons 1 to 4). Loved the Soul 4 Real and Technotronic stuff (That Pump up the jam song was the shit). Also wonder if you have any Snap! or C and C music factory. They used eye catching art on their singles as well, and De La Soul of course.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

yeah, she did black box stuff uncredited, but it was lolleatta holliway that's voice is on the original version of ride on time, which is a sample of "right on time" from the acapella bootleg of love sensation. dan hartman got most of the royalties for that track as they didn't get permission to sample

Zelma Davis wasn't just a model, she actually sang on most of the songs on the album. She just didn't sing on Gonna Make You Sweat. Zelma's voice doesn't sound like Martha's. On the 2nd album, Martha & Zelma are in the video for the single. Technotronic & Black Box used models although Ya Kid K did appear in the later Technotronic videos.

This video by Zelma & Amber was released around 4 years ago. Zelma still performs now.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Zelma was also one of the background singers in Michael Jackson's Will You Be There video. You can see her at the end of the video if you look carefully around when the angel is landing by Mike. smile

Good for you for having the guts to do it! smile Mine looked like Rihanna's current hairstyle. I tell the kids we did that back in the 80's lol Okay, I'm not going to corrupt the thread anymore. lol lol Back on the music, Boy George was a fave then. cool

I guess braids were popular, but I wore them so my hair was out of the way. Now that you mentioned that Rihanna hairstyle, I just remembered a style Cyndi Lauper had in one of the Time After Time scenes, in the restaurant where half her head was shaved, that's where Rihanna must have got it from!

But I feel old though I was really young in the 80's if people on this board can't believe people wore shirts like Bobby Brown, young and grown lol

yes, I know that, but most others don't, and they still used her image on the retail copies of singles that didn't feature her voice. i remember one single, and i had the dj promo 12" doublepack with a pic of martha wash on the cover, but the retail copies had zelma on the front, and she didn't even sign on it. obviously they thought it would sell more with a skinny model than the woman who sang on it. martha wash did a pile of house/garage stuff in the 90s, some classic tracks

The U.S wouldn't let him return after finding out that he kept a prostitute chained (in his basement I think) in his home
