Sheena Easton is wealthy

Sheena Easton has appeared on a UK rich-list (again). Sheena is, of course, originally from Scotland though she has lived in the US for over 25 years.

According to the U.K.'s Sunday Times Magazine's "Rich List," Sheena ranked at No. 23 among females in the newspaper's annual listing, with income of £4 million ($6.4 million US)

Her estiamted total wealth is said to be over 62 million US dollars.

The bulk of Sheena's wealth has come from shrewed investments made during her commercial hey-day in the 1980's.

Good for her! Good to see that she invested wisely. She's a tremendous talent, an underrated vocalist. Love her 80s hits. "101" is just killer.

Well, a surprising revelation about her.

I thought her sugar walls were her most valuable assets. Little did I know. wink

^^Sheena was popular before Prince and most of her hits have nothing to do with him.

What does that have to do with music? That's part of the reason female singers/musicians are not taken seriously.

KCool got a point. She blew up REALLY big in the states once Prince got his hands in on her.

She was popular enough to sing a James Bond theme, and that was before Prince. She also sang with Kenny Rogers.

Everybody and their momma done sung a James Bond theme song and Kenny Rogers....well.....he's no Mick Jagger or Frank Sinatra, plus wasn't with Kenny from the 70s or something?

Kenny first came out in the 1960's with his group The First Edition, but was most popular in the early 1980's. Prince even wrote a song for Kenny. Kenny had all of those Gambler movies. Sequel movies don't get made for flops. People who don't pay attention to country music don't realize how popular it has been. Sheena had Top 10 hits when Prince hadn't crossed over with 1999. Sugar Walls was the only song on that album Prince had something to do with and wasn't the 1st single. Strut was and it was a hit.

They don't get just anybody to do a Bond theme, they're big acts.

um, not really. In fact, Prince was responsible for some of her biggest flops. Most of her biggest hits were before she worked with Prince.

Sheena and her morning train were successful way before Prince. Her duet with him was great, but she was a great singer without him.

Prince still put Sheena on the lips of every tabloid & entertainment show when he wrote her hit song "My Sugar walls" & did the duet & video "U Got The Look" with her...Before that she was average at best & just known for her voice & 1981 song "For your eyes only"....

Weren't those made for TV movies? Like Lifetime Channel or WE TV type stuff?

All I know is Sheena changed her image once she hooked up with Prince and it was gravy train all the way from there. Even today if you google her, her association with Prince pops. She didn't just have Sugar Walls she also had U Got The Look and Arms of Orion. Her revamped image also landed her a role on Miami Vice.

Why people always want to throw shade at Prince for his contributions to other artists? The man made her over and that's that.

Emphasis on the "average" part. Prince did her major props and people need to respect that. Sheena is one of the few female associated artists/proteges who had a long career after the relationship with Prince ended. Is she talented? Damn skippy! Would she have been as big as she ultimately was without the influence of Prince? Hellz no. Prince took a Debbie Gibson and turned her into Britney Spears.

Not trying to call anybody young here lol but older folks know she was a success before Prince. Yes Prince wrote hits for her and such, but she had the goods and didn't need him to "make" her a star.

Yep, the only hit she had with Prince was Sugar Walls, unless you count U Got The Look. That's two. Later on, she had some success with LA & Babyface.

Prince made Sheena in2 a sex symbol just like he did Sheila E...It was the same scenario. Yes they both had good careers before him. But Prince took both of them to the next level. Because of that their careers flourished in2 the stratosphere.

That wasn't a big hit, and she just sings the hook on U Got The Look. That's like saying he made Appolonia a hit because she sang on Take Me With U. The stuff that was released under her own name didn't do anything. One of the songs Sheena did with LA & Babyface (Lover In Me) charted higher in Billboard than Sugar Walls. Prince is no more responsible for Sheena's success than Babyface is.
