BAD BOY vs. DEATH ROW vs YMCMB
Presuming these three labels are extremely corrupt and dysfunctional but highly profitable, which one would you (as an upcoming artist hungry for success) want to be signed to and why? Consider; most of their artists either leave the label to find Jesus or wind up dead, in jail or broke.

to B or not to B [Edited 4/24/12 16:52pm] I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

I don't really care for any of these labels
but i agree with Asher
Bad Boy.... really irreleavant Hell Diddy is to busy ownign 13 million thing's & pretending he is still from the hood.
Death Row went to deaths row & literally got executed.
Young Money is doing very well & mking it after hit so it look's like it's the winner here. Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Wait...is Sug out of prison? He goes in and out so much I can't keep track.
@gunshalen - U are so right about Diddy pretending he's a hoodkat. Whatever. I never liked that about him. I did think Bad Boy was still signing artists. The last noteable group being Dirty Diddy Money.
YMCMB raking artists in like leaves. Not that they are all good or anything but it seems like if you want quick money, they are the ones to go to. I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

Death Row was easily the best with Dre and Snoop, Nate Dogg, Dat Nigha Dazz and Kurupt of Dogg Pound, Lady of Rage and Tupac. Bad Azz came in latter on after Dre left I believe. Warren G was never with Death Row, he was with Def Jam for some odd reason.
Bad Boy had of course Biggy, Lil Kim and Junior Mafia with Lil Cease and Craig Mack. Latter on they got Mase (haha), the LOX, Black Rob, GDepp, Loon and Mario Winans.
Cash Money, I liked the old Cash Money with BG, Juvenile, Turk, Big Tymers and young Lil Wayne. Or even before that era with the original Cash Money of Ivan, Lil Slim, UNLV among others. PRINCE: Always and Forever

Yeah that was certainly odd especially given that his ass still ended up broke with financial issues. At least Death Row was giving money up front kind of like YMCMB. I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

I don't follow artists based on labels, but ...
... there's no way I'd ever be on death row. Some of their artists are great, but the thuggery is too much. I don't want to be hung by my ankles off a balcony because I disagree with the head of the label. No thanks.

I would've avoided all of those record labels like the plague. If I was a rapper, I would've join either Priority/EMI or Island/Def Jam, probably Priority/EMI. | |
