Kenny G ~ Stop And Go

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I Like Kenny smile he made some good, snazzy stuff. I never really got the hate for him, was it the Michael Bolton esque hair? i mean dude is talented. Yet he gets dissed on a ton..

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

All music is shit music and no music is real- gunsnhalen

Because they feel he makes soft adult contemporary music, the same reason people make fun of Debby Boone, Barry Manilow, or Air Supply. It's "elevator music/muzak" to them, so not cool. Kenny's earlier stuff was a bit more uptempo. Clive Davis started to get him to record "romantic" AC ballads, and some people don't like it I guess. Those records became really big sellers and so Kenny became known for that and never really went back to his earlier style. It's like early Commodores fans complaining about Lionel Richie's solo career. Some people didn't like him overdubbing his sax on Louis Armstrong's It's A Wonderful World, Natalie Cole style.
