lol for example folks like Gregory Abbott and Toni Basil and the like get PAID millions off one hit (because they own the publishing) while an artist who has 20 hit singles and five hit albums still have trouble paying mortgage.

EXACTLY. lol

Hell, Abbott's ex, Ms. Freda Pain. Sista don't have no paper on a "Band Of Gold" but she's doin' alright'. lol

Doesn't she invest in real estate or something? I forgot what she said she did to get all that money. She didn't even write "Band of Gold". lol

nod Yeah, the money she made singing a "Band of Gold" she said she invested. Makes me fell no empathy for these fools who make millions and end up broker than a joke.

That's smart. That means she knew the money she got from just singing it over and over again, she could use it as an investment. I think most artists who get millions spend it on stuff they wouldn't keep in the next five years, that's when they each go on their biographies complaining about not getting paid for their works. It seems like everyone falls in that path. It wasn't just the labels stealing their money, they were spending their own money without a care in the world until the fame went.

What was the can't pick it up of my career? I hope for the best with her new material. She needs to get Erykah Badu to produce a record for her - out of the box.

I don't.

The Brandy decline started a long time ago. The 2 CD's before Human were solid work, but like someone said she got lost in the shuffle.

What are you talking about? Of course she can sing and has released some great r&b tunes!!

The cynics on the forum are a joke sometimes - groundless, stupid comments.

Exactly. I hate to go in on some people opinions but saying Brandy can't sing is kind of crazy to me. That girl has an amazing tone. The cool thing is her voice has gotten better the older she has got. I'm looking forward to her new record. Full moon was dope.

Didn't she blame Rodney Jerkins for Human not selling well? I seem to remember that convo on the piece of shit reality show she had with baby brotha. I didn't like seeing them together. They just didn't have that tight knit vibe I'd expect from a girl who touted her brother as her "best friend" in song. shrug

As Ray J puts it, his sister Brandy was at one time, "America's sweetheart." The singer was just a teenager when she released her first album, Brandy, later starring as the girl-next-door on her own television sitcom, Moesha.

In a clip from VH1's upcoming Behind the Music special, Brandy says that in public, "It was all about setting this perfect image."

That perfect image was one that Brandy never felt she quite lived up to, a friend reveals in the Behind the Music sneak peek. Brandy's squeaky-clean persona was threatened when the 23-year-old revealed that she was pregnant.

Along with the announcement that Brandy was having her first baby, she also introduced fans to the child's father, Robert Smith, whom she identified as her husband. The relationship didn't work out however, and a year after Bran gave birth to her daughter, Sy'rai, she and Robert officially announced their separation.

What fans didn't know, and what Robert later revealed, was that he and Brandy had never been legally married. In her Behind the Music documentary, Brandy, admits, "The lie about being married was the fall of my career. Everything changed."

Brandy, who's been working on her upcoming album Two Eleven, also discusses the fatal car crash that brought her serious legal trouble in 2006.

Her Behind the Music episode airs Wednesday at 9 p.m. E.S.T.

Lying about her marriage seemed to work for Janet Jackson.

nod Yup! Brandy had her time in the spot light. Her lie about her marriage had nothing to do with the fall of her career. that's just something she's made herself believe to explain why folks stopped buying her music when the truth is consumers simply moved on to other things, as they usually do.

She lied about the first one to James but omitted her second marriage to Elizondo or whatever his name was. The dude that sued her for songwriting credit.

Lady Gaga's "Telephone" is proof that Darkchild can turn a party. I think he's M A S S I V E L Y overrated and I think Michael Jackson made the biggest mistake of his career by choosing him over The Neptunes to do Invincible... But he still produced the fuck out of this jam...

Yes, this was my MFing jam back in the day and I'm not a DC fan like that. My only problem with this song? During the chorus, there is a loud clanging sound in the background that goes about a halfstep behind the beat and it ruined the song once I noticed it. Now I can't stop hearing it. I believe it's a guitar doing a "funky" riff, but its grating.

Say (clank) my name, say my name (clank, clank, clank)

You actin kinda shady (clank, clank, clank)

Ain't callin' me baby (clank, clank, clank)

What I always wanted to know was what is Beyonce saying @ 2:35 during the ad-libs. "Say my name, even if it changed?" Is that it? Or is it something else?

I tried looking up the lyrics but no one has it.

Excuses. rolleyes Brandy was never that big of a public figure for a fake marriage to hurt her career. It's not the fake marriage because really no one cared. It's the fact that people lost interest and moved on to listen to other artists. The end.

I almost forget he produced that. Matter of fact his productions on Share My World were nearly perfect.
