WTF?

How is her lie about being married the fall of her career?

Mind you, Kim Kardashian is famous for being fucked on camera by

Brandy's little brother - who gives a shit about her lying about her

faux marriage? Ours is a forgiving society. And I'm not buying that

Brandy's success was due to her squeaky clean image.

None of the R&B/pop tarts charting on Billboard are angels.

The main difference between Brandy & Ray J is that Ray J didn't get a damn what people, including his mother/manager, thought about him after that sex tape with Kim.

Brandy has never been as bold with controversy as her brother Ray J.

NEVER! lol

Darkchild is not that big in the industry, is he-now anyways

The music production legecy of Darkchild is a mix bag. He had his hit tracks with some artists (Brandy, Monica, Destiny's Child) as well as his f*** up tracks with other artists (The Spice Girls, Jennifer Lopez).

He's about to fuck up Nelly Furtado's comeback too.

Brandy has recorded one good album after another, but the industry changed. Rap took over R&B and then pop music. Artists like Brandy, despite her talents, were phased out of the mainstream.

Plus, a LOT of his shit sounds like cheap-ass Timbaland knock offs. He came to the Dream Center in LA about 5 years ago with his wife, and she sang some song that sounded like a knock off of Nelly's "Say It Right". So with him doing her new stuff, I just expect to hear his attempts of a Timbaland song for her. No thanks.

I used to love her back in the day. I once went to a Brandy concert and Ray J came out on stage at the end and started rolling around and acting silly. He must of been 17 or something. It was a good concert though.

The saddest part of all is that Darkchild is actually a protege of Teddy Riley, NOT Timbaland. neutral

I agree with this line of thought. When you have these monumental shifts in music, some people irrespective of talent are pushed aside. Why some artist/musicians are able to swim against the current and survive while others are casualties, I don't know. shrug

Nah the fall of her career didn't start with her lying about her marriage, it got to the point that after four years of waiting for the next album (Never Say Never and Full Moon was four years apart almost), there were a new sea of R&B performers her age and younger on the come up (Amerie, Tweet, Ashanti), not to mention the R&B sound had progressed where Rodney's sound fell out of favor. I can say that "marriage" was another reason for the fallout and I don't think she'll recover from when she had that accident.

But hadn't Brandy's career already started to flounder before the accident? I don't think it helped -the accident- but really if it never happened, the out come would've been the same.

That's what I said (maybe my wording's fucked up lol). It had peaked anyway. Plus Atlantic hardly did anything with Afrodisiac and while it was a good album, no one knew how to promote it so it languished in stores. The accident just only made things worse.

Nah Brandy was still having hits when Britney showed up. Of course Britney had more promotion and help than Brandy but she released her album around the same time or just right before ...One More Time came out. Hell by the time Full Moon came out, Britney went through her first stage of bad shit with that movie and the tour having problems, didn't she?

Nah, your writings isn't fucked up, my comprehension is. lol

Now that you put it that way. wink biggrin It appears timing and some personal setbacks may have had an accumlative effect. I don't know... when artist/singers/musicians careers wane they want to pinpoint one thing or another. One moment you are hot the next thing you are as cold as the South Pole... it leaves you wondering what the hell happeded.

Well you know, nobody ever it thinks its going to happen to them. lol If the career does wane, they think it will be done on THEIR terms and it will happen much much much later.

It's no different then why some artist who've made one damn record can sustain a career and others who've recorded successful albums are broke and if arrested couldn't give a prison concert. lol

lol for example folks like Gregory Abbott and Toni Basil and the like get PAID millions off one hit (because they own the publishing) while an artist who has 20 hit singles and five hit albums still have trouble paying mortgage.

I don't think that had anything to do with it honestly and I don't get why she thinks that.

Plenty of other people in showbusiness have had much worse press and scandals and everything, and they somehow manage to do fine again afterwards (R Kelly even got caught pissing on people's children and folks still adore him for some batshit crazy reason).

Lying about being married isn't really that bad and I don't think that's the issue.

I think it's just lack of promotion that kinda fucked her up more than anything else. A lot of times she'd have stuff out and you'd barely even hear about it.

My thing with this is why do artists always seem to trust people who don't know nothing about promotion. That never helps the artist... doesn't Ray J co-manage her or something?
