Cyndi Lauper ~ The Goonies 'R' Good Enough

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I am the only person in the world who does not like that movie, I think. The song is kinda ok, though.

I remember seeing this as a 'World Premiere Video' on MTV. Cyndi always had WWF guys in her videos.

Love, love, LOVE this song music

It instantly takes me back to being a kid in the '80s. That chorus is killer; the backing vox are on point and they way Cyndi sings the long "gooood enooough" is so joyous and free! This one is ever-so-slightly behind "All Through the Night" as my favorite Lauper song.

This song + the WWF thing is probably what took her out of contention.

There's a lot of popular movies I haven't seen, like Star Wars. I saw the 2nd one on TV once, but none of the others. shrug

Dig this song! I've always felt that Cyndi would have become monsterously huge were it not for Madonna.

I'd say this and a couple of the True Colors songs were hits based on the fumes of her previous success, but even by that album, she was losing the public's attention. the last couple of singles went nowhere. I Drove All Night succeeded based on being an awesome song and the anticipation of a comeback single.

I think the WWF thing and the Goonies theme song made her too much of a cartoon to be taken too seriously. That plus continuing with the passe kooky look for True Colors cemented this.

I had the Goonies game on Nintendo and this was the song for one of the levels, but though I already loved Cyndi for years, I didn't know it was her song yet!

Cyndi's career never ended. She still releases albums, she last released a blues record. She does some acting occasionally. People think that if someone is not chasing radio hits or not on TV all the time, then they don't exist.
