Does Flo Rida get ANY respect in the Hip Hop/Rap Community?

He's awful. I don't even know what to call the shit he makes. I don't wanna call it rap because it's an insult to the genre lol so is it pop, techno, electronic?

The R&B/Rap stations ignore this song, they NEVER play it, but the Top 40/Pop radio stations play the hell out of this mess. Why? This song is horrible. I wonder who gave him permission to ruin Etta James's song?

Here's another awful one:

And another:

Who the fuck likes this dude??

I'm seriously baffled.

I put this mofo in the same category as LMAO and Pitbull. Homo tunes for hetero guys to feel fresh listening to.

The Etta James sample kills me every time I hear it. Shame.

I hate him, he gives Florida a bad name, and thanks to him, I'll bet young people pronounce the state wrong lol

I only like Elavators, and consider that a Timbaland song ore.

Flo Rida is more hip-pop and even dance-pop than hip-hop. I'm no fan of his, but at least his tracks are not stuck on 95 BPM like typical 21st century shit-hop track.

I guess you guys don't listen to dance music, because neither Flo-Rida or his producers had any input into the "Good Feeling" composition, it comes directly from one of the biggest dance hits this year, "Levels" by Aviici:

As for the question in the title - not particularly, no.

Not really, his music is too commercial and nice for the vice filled garbage those rappers demand. Its nasty low brow stuff, all this crap about guns, drugs, hos and bling bling.

But to give him props, his career has lasted 3 years, which is a long time in the disposable rap world.

He is currently in New Zealand with One Direction, I think that says everything.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

He makes no pretense to hip hop authenticity, which I respect.

He's having fun and he wants to have an international career, which he has.

It's people like him that are the reason old people think rap is just aggresive black guys shouting about sex. And why did he think sampling the "meatspin" song was a good idea?

The hooks are usually the only semi-descent part on his songs.

I don't know about whether he gets any respect in the Hip Hop/Rap Comm, but he gets respect from me for finally shaving that head bald; i was sick and tired of guessing what his hairline was gonna be when he coloured it in the next time.

Aside from Low, I've never heard him played on a hip-hop/rap station. he's a essentially a pop singer who talks really fast and make horrible songs.

Is it weird that I hear a lot of Heavy D in these new pop rappers like LMFAO and Flo and Pitbull? Except Heavy had that Blue Funk.
