Jimi's "Electric Church Red House" The man was doing it all on this joint: overdriven Stratocaster blues, the descending runs in the intro that Prince would cop in later years (like on "Purple House" from his Rave DVD), the self-effacing humor, the rip-your-face-to-shreds shredding. For the unaware who might ask what made him so great, I often point to this stretched-out, tricked-out take "Red House."
I prefer the Winterland excerpt I've heard, but this will do in a pinch. Brotha wuz bad.
