Britpop legends Blur have announced plans to issue an elaborate box set collecting their entire discography along with over five hours of previously unreleased material on July 30th. The band, who are set to play what could be their final concert at the closing ceremonies of the Summer Olympics in London this summer, will release Blur 21, a 21-disc box featuring expanded versions of all seven of their studio albums, four discs of rarities, three DVDs featuring previously unseen footage, a special 7-inch single and a book.

In addition to the CD box set, the expanded editions of Blur's albums will be sold individually as double-disc packages. The albums will also be reissued on vinyl without bonus tracks, and another box collecting the seven LPs will also hit stores. The full track listing for the Blur 21 box set can be seen on the Blur website, and you can watch a trailer for the reissues below.

I don't see a price yet but this ain't gonna be cheap. Hopefully the five hours of unreleased material will be worth it.

I just skimmed the tracklist and was disappointed to see some tracks missing (their covers of "Substitute" and "Oliver's Army" being two examples, it also looks like some of the Seymour era tracks that were released on the "Sunday Sunday" single have been omitted). While I would have liked all of the officially released live tracks to have been included their absence is understandable but the set really ought to include every single released studio recording, especially since there is a fair bit of room at the end of the discs containing the originall albums.

I can't be certain but I believe that all of the fan club exclusive singles (barring the live b-sides ep) have been included.

EDIT: apparently there is one fan club single ("Colours" a Think Tank outtake/demo) that is not included.

Sir Elton John's Cock. lol

I remember Alex talking about this track in an interview but I thought he was just taking the piss and that it didn't really exist.

Glad to see it's the real deal. smile
