Sad and unexpected. I was just watching the Prince 79/Andre Cymone 85 clips of Bandstand yesterday online.
R.I.P to the world's oldest teenager. Thanks for the music on Saturday afternoons.

I saw Dick recently on both Branded and Batman. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Its very sad when we hear of those we grew up watching or listening to passing away.. I guess in some ways it kinda makes us see how we are ALL growing older... Rest In Peace Dick. You brought music and fun to Amercia for a LONG LONG time and you deserve your reward up in heaven.
I wonder if Prince will make comment of this??

Ahhh damn! I kinda figured after Don's demise, Dick was going to soon follow pretty quickly.
So many memories of American Bandstand on Saturday afternoons. And 100,000 Pyriamid remains my all-time favorite game show. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

It's truly the end of an era. Dick Clark was a pop culture icon/pioneer. He will be greatly missed.

RIP Dick Clark...say hi to mj
I'm scared of who's next, honestly. We all know Robin Gibb might be, but I'm getting scared there's going to be another one that shocks us. I've been having the nagging feeling lately anyways.

Very sad about this news but not really that unexpected, considering his recent health issues. After he suffered his stoke back in 2004 he wasn't the same person afterward. The appearances he made on his New Year's Rockin Eve show in 2005 and 2006 were hard to watch, as he was really struggling to speak clearly. He never reallly recovered his vocie fully, but he did become a little bit more coherent in his speech in later years.
While most of us remember him from American Bandstand, he really became an uber-TV producer, creating the $25,000 Pyramid, TV Bloopers and Practical Jokes, The American Music Awards, and the Academy of Country Music Awards, and he rescued The Golden Globe Awards from being a laughingstock to becoming one of the more anticipated awards shows during Oscar and Grammy season.
RIP Mr. Clark. You will be missed.

Everyone's gotta go one day. That's why I treasure the ones we have remaining. I gave Dick his respect long before he died and before he had the stroke. Really his stroke was the beginning of the end. Health's a bitch.

CNN has been showing this picture all the time and I noticed it's Candy in the background man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
