Not that it makes the outfit look better, but that was a "stage" look.

Okay you don't have to be rude. Script was just stating her opinion and no two people always agree on everything the same. I suppose you've never stated your opinion here on an artist particularly since they call this a discussion board. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

See, I was interested in her return (mainly because I love her voice) until I heard ____ was on the single. No f'ing thank you.
And I agree that she doesn't "chase what's hot". Afrodisiac (especially the song!) was a great album sonically and IMO the "Aaliyah" album influenced that.
Btw I think she actually looks better as she gets older. I use to think she was ugly. [Edited 4/15/12 13:02pm]

I got love for Breezy and all but nuh-uh. Dude is fortunate to still be relevant. Dudes had their career dumped on (no pun intended) for less. [Edited 4/15/12 16:10pm]

DONT LIKE IT
Brandy does sound really really good and has matured as a vocalist but dayum, why release this shit after the smash... " It all belongs to me"....
They say its not good to judge the first single but if the album sounds ANYTHING like this song, Im not checking for Brandy, very dissappointing because.... I really really like her and she is far better than that weak song

Its okay. Take CB off of it and I'd probably like it more.

From "I Want To Be Down" to "Put It Down". I don't know...it's not exactly what I want from Brandy, but I'm kind of digging it at the same time. Maybe I'm just biased because I want to love it. The bridge is great at 2:57.

I like the song. And lmao at who said "it all belongs to me" was a smash. that terrible song lol.
This has a nice knock, very simple but just enough.

I wish yall just directly respond to the person your talking about.
Its almost sad that you would think that generic song with Chris Brown is BETTER than It All Belongs To Me and what makes it sadder is the fact that your a fan so Im sure you have heard better Brandy material.
It All Belongs To Me isnt the best song in the world but the sound is not far left field from Brandys past ballads. Put It Down is a completely different song Brandy is use to doing and clearly geared toward the radio.

The best thing about it is the bridge @ the 2:57 mark. That was classic Brandy, everything else is catering to Chris Brown's audience. I still look forward to hearing more from her. She's been in the game long enough to know what works best for her, (she should at least).

Hot single cover! | |

After second thought, I'm not surprised she went with a highly commercial single first. She hasn't been on the radio in quite awhile. Nothing from "Human" really caught on as far as I remember. I guess I should've expected something like this after hearing about Chris being on the single. B Rocka sound like she's chasing radio hits right now with this one. We'll see what else she got later.

well yeah it's geared towards radio because that's what Brandy NEEDS. And yes it's completely different for Brandy....what's wrong with that?
Yes, I think this song is better than "It All Belongs To Me", but that doesn't mean that I think this song is AMAZING, because it's not. it's a nice lil catchy song for summer, that's it.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
It seems that you think its better because its more commercial friendly am I right?
Because Put It Down is just as generic as a Rihanna or Chris Brown song. It All Belongs To Me showcases Brandys maturity and clearly showcases her vocals better.
Brandy can easily make a great R&B song that could do great on R&b adult stations... just ask Jill Scott or Kelly Price. Making music for commercial reasons when your not known for that isnt a good choice and it really hurts the fanbase, just ask Janet and Usher.
I dont think this is a good move at all. She could easily get good airplay by making a R&B songs and plus Brandy is to old to be doing this shit for it to be convincing to general public. I love Brandy to and want to see her shine BELIEVE ME but this isnt the way to do it.
Sometimes staying in your lane is better than choosing the easy route which sometimes gets you no where.

Is THIS thread about Brandy OR is THIS thread about why everyone hates Chris (Brown)?!?
Just checking. | |

it would sound better without Piss. she could've had any rapper do that part and it would've sounded better, and it also wouldn't have forced fans who don't support Chris to boycott it, like i will be. dumb choice all around.
maybe she just wanted the attention that having him on her track would bring. but i hope she's prepared for both the good and bad attention.
it's true that a good song can make people forget, but this song just isnt that good. she sounds good tho. "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

For a long time I was pretty happy living in a world where I didn't have to hear Brandy singing, especially on the radio. It was like living in a dream. Guess some dreams don't last forever.
