The Manhattans Set These guys seem to be a bit overshadowed by certain other vocal groups of the 70s. Although over the years there were other members and configurations, this set focuses on the era which features the distinctive lead vocals of Gerald Alston, the bass vocals/monologues/writing of Winfred "Blue" Lovett and augmented by Ernest "Sonny" Bivens, Kenny Kelly and Richard Taylor (who left in 1976). It's a mixture of the "hits" and other interesting tracks. ...A Million To One & One Life to Live ...There's No Me Without You & Soul Train ...You'd Better Believe It & Wish That You Were Mine ...Don't Take Your Love & We Made It ...That's How Much I Love You & Hurt ...Kiss and Say Goodbye (LIVE) & Searching For Love ...We Never Danced To A Love Song & Too Much For Me To Bear ...Shining Start (LIVE) & Everybody Has A Dream Music for adventurous listeners tA Tribal Records "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. They had lots of great stuff during the 1970s and continued on briefly in the 1980s with this one....
And they even had a good one in the 2000s which is rare for anybody to have anything good in the 2000s This was my mother's absolute favorite ......

They were on Soul Train last week singing Crazy. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton | |
