Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz Talk About the Beginning of Their Romance

The romance between Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz began with a mix-up.
"It was the craziest thing," Swizz says in the upcoming global issue of Vibe, which features his wife Alicia on the cover. "We had a work lunch with some people, and I get home and look in the back pocket—"
"My credit card was in his pocket," Keys says, finishing her husband's sentence. "Why was my credit card in his pocket?" The pair took it as a sign, according to Vibe.
They say it wasn't the first time their paths had crossed, however. Fourteen years ago, when Alicia and Swizz first met, the producer tried, but failed to get the singer's number from his friend. "It wasn't our time yet," he tells the magazine.
Back in 2009, when word spread that Alicia was dating the then-married Swizz, any sweet details of their relationship were crowded out by accusations that Alicia had broken up his happy home. She later told Essence, however, that she didn't begin seeing Swizz until months after he had separated from singer Mashonda.
Swizz and Mashonda's divorce was finalized in May 2010, and he married Alicia two months later. Together they have one son, Egypt, who was born in October 2011.
